Fentanyl Patch

I am wearing a fentanyl patch.

It is the next drug I am a guinea pig for in the hopes of long lasting pain relief.

I insisted I would no longer take methadone because of the side effects. I have taken buckets of immodium and zofran. My mouth is sores and swollen. I am treated in something like the beginnings of oral thrush. I nodded off anytime anyplace all the time. I would wake disoriented and sometimes need help. I slept as much as possible. Funny but the pain clinic doc told me she had never heard of these problems with methadone. Well I have them and perhaps they come from someplace else but in addition, the pain was reduced but never eliminated the need for norco for breakthrough pain. It was better than norco alone but even if time reduced some sides,it was not all that great.

So now I move on to the next drug. The patch works for 3 days and will take one or two to kick in. I pray that this one may be the long awaited answer. And a patch would be cool if it worked.

I have a friend that used this for back pain. Eventually got shots then time healed.

I will meet with a doc to talk about those shots to help my kind of pain.

It is hard to believe I have been living with this pain for so long. But I still long for life and a pain free existence.

I am willing to try more ways to have Less pain. Less pain means I can do more walking which may mean I will get better at balancing and perhaps be able to learn, regain, Somethings that pain prevents.

And oh to sleep the night without waking up in pain or taking a pill in the middle of the night.

So now I go on a glorious new adventure embarking on a new medication journey.

I was once given methadone instead of pethadine to stop the pain of a gall bladder attack, among other things it gave me a giant panic attack.  Never had it again, once was one time too many,  Hope the fentanyl patch works for you, a patch is less trouble than constantly taking pills.
