Another Good Day!!!!

It seems this week we are starting to find a balance to this crazy life. The only answer I can find for this happening is the new aide that started this week. She is very compassionate. Chris really likes her - she has energy to KILL!!!! Actually I wonder if she should be on Ritalin???????

It only took her 2 days to get into a routine. She's very good with Chris and she actually does all the exercises that need to be done everyday. She actually does more than she really needs to.

I have finally been able to get back to my business. I still have a problem getting dinner done and cleaned up before 8pm and can never seem to get to bed before midnight. Hopefully that will change.

For some reason that past few nights, Chris wakes up around 3am - hungry!!! So I end up going down stairs - getting him a snack and drink - then he is satisfied and goes back to sleep. I certainly hope this doesn't last to long - I don't do well on broken sleep.

Chris did very well again with the PT today. He once again had him sitting on the side of the bed - without supporting him. Yesterday the aide took pictures of us sitting on the bed together. These pictures are now on the fridge so Chris can look at them everyday to see just how far he has come in 1 month.

Chris actually did not sleep all day like he has been doing and today he didn't seem to struggle as much to keep his eyes open.

Yesterday he had another really bad headache which washed him out all day. I feel so bad for him when he gets these headaches. I have been told that this is a result of his stroke, but lately I think he is getting them too often. I need to call the neurologist and make him another appointment. I just want to make sure everything is O.K.

KIM,

SO NICE TO READ ABOUT CHRIS' GOOD DAYS AND ACHIEVEMENTS. SOME PEOPLE GO FAR AND BEYOND IN THEIR JOBS AND IT'S REFLECTED IN EVERYONE'S ATTITUDE.

I TOLD THIS A WHILE AGO, BUT IT'S WORTH REPEATING. I SIGNED UP FOR WATER THERAPY CLASS OVER A YEAR AGO. JUDY LED THE CLASS AND TOOK ME UNDER HER WING. SHE STAYED WITH ME UNTIL I LEARNED THE EXERCISES AND MADE SURE I WAS ALWAYS SAFE IN THE WATER. SHE TREATS ALL NEW PARTICIPANTS THE SAME WAY. NOW JUDY IS 62, STONE DEAF, AND HAS A HOST OF MEDICAL PROBLEMS. SHE SMILES ALL THE TIME, AND GETS VERY CONCERNED IF YOU MISS A CLASS. SHE HAS 4 CLASSES, 1 HOUR EACH, 3 DAYS A WEEK, ALL THIS FOR $7/HR. EACH CLASS IS LIKE HER FAMILY.

THE DAYS GET BETTER AND BETTER. AS FAR AS SLEEPING, LOOK WHO'S WRITING TO YOU AT 2AM. THE KING OF INSOMNIACS.

Kim,

Glad Chris and yourself are getting into a routine and he is having progresses. The first year is a tough year, but one with many gains to celebrate! Keep on celebrating them all.

Just a thought on the headaches. I was wondering if perhaps it might be the medication your husband is on. I am asking as I was having terrible headaches at the beginning and once they changed my medication the headaches went away. The medicaiton they were giving me was just too strong for me. Just a thought and perhaps worth asking about?
