CRAZY

biggrin.gif Well I guess John & I are a little "crazy" we have just added another four legged member to our family.

I have a girlfriend that has a lot of health issues and 3 children. She adopted this little toy fox terrier 2 yrs. ago. She had some issues when Terri got her, she was not housebroken and she is hyper....Terii has not housetrained her and her husband is getting quite upset, so she has been tied out side or kenneled quite a bit.

She said her husband is getting frustrated with the dog and asked if we would take her. She is barely 5 pounds.

Well we got her yesterday....We have 5 acres and 3 min pins..(and two outside dogs)

She is fitting in very nicely and as soon as John came home she attached herself to him..he is in love..... wub2.gif

Terri says she is a "runner" so we have been careful. she did get away on me ...but lucky she made a turn into the neighbors yard and didn't get to the highway.as I was walking as quickly as I could after her (which is not fast) the neighbor came out with her in her arms....Whew I breathed a sigh of relief..it is over 600 feet up the gravel road to the highway...and I could do was pictur her squashed....

My husband has taken her out twice without a leash and she has stayed with him..

I am not that brave after chasing her up the road. She has asked twice to go outside and has done her "business" outside....

She is curled up on my lap as I type.

There have been a few growls and snarls, but she is not timid and holds her own or goes off to another spot..will take a few days of adjusting for mine to realize we have a new family member......

well I guess it is the "dawghouse"

AAAAWWWWWW BONNIE,

YOU HAVE SUCH A BIG HEART TO TAKE IN ALL THOSE CRITTERS!!!!!!

IF I HAD THE SPACE, I WOULD TOO. I STILL KEEP FOOD OUT FOR STRAY CATS EVEN THOUGH I LIVE IN AN URBAN AREA. ONE DAY, WHEN I WENT OUT TO GO TO WORK, THERE WERE SIX KITTYS LOUNGING ON MY VEHICLE!!!!!!!!

THEY WILL ALWAYS GET A MEAL AT MY HOUSE. I ALSO KEEP CAT FOOD IN MY PURSE FOR WHEN I RUN ACROSS STRAYS ON MY JOB. AND DOG TREATS IN MY VEHICLE. pash.gifpash.gifpash.gif

How long have you been in the animal care mode? My sister is like the green thumb in animal care. She says if they come to her house, they were sent for her to care for their lives and she will be blessed. I can not argue her point, she has a big set-up, just under the limit to need a license for kennel operation.

You seem to be headed in that direction, but maybe not in city limits that controls deed restrictions or what you can or can not have on your property. I'm glad it gives you joy in your life as a survivor. You-Rock.gif

Raising terriers is a whole book unto themselves. i spent half my childhood chasing wire haired terriers. my mom says you have to be as bullheaded as them. Originally they were ratters, go down the hole after the varmit kind of dogs. I was never able to have a kitten as a child because of these guys, they said NO way! We had a fenced in yard to help slow em down. Good luck, they take diligence but are great in the loyalty dept. Good luck, jan

BTW my SIL has a new jack russel, he's three, shelter dog, they can't watch animal planet, he jumps up and down in front of the tv if he sees another dog or a horse, go figure.....being crazy is a good start, they are fun and funny....

my first dog when I was 5 was a rat and toy terrier, the minature pinschers are bred from a german terrier and 2 other dogs...yes they can be bullheaded....and you have to let them know who is the alpha dog, 2 of mine love digging, fortunately this is not a problem except for the time Molly followed me around digging up all the bulbs I had just planted. the new addition is going to take some time and work, but she is learning "stay" before I open the door and very excited when I pick up her leash.. she is 4 yrs old, so we'll be working on .....old habits
