TO PILL OR NOT TO PILL

NOW THAT I PAY FOR MEDS, I SHOP AROUND. I AM INVESTIGATING BUYING FROM CANADA, AND AM AWAITING A REVIEW WITH MY NEW DOCTORS LAST WEEK. MAYBE I CAN GET OFF SOME OF THE PILLS. IN THE MEANTIME, I HAD BEEN GETTING THEM FROM COSTCO. I WAS RUNNING LOW AND CALLED A LOCAL PHARMACY. I WAS QUOTED $210.00 FOR 3 PRESCRIPTIONS. THIS WAS ABOUT WHAT I WAS PAYING AND SINCE COSTCO WAS 35 MILES AWAY NEAR THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE, I DECIDED TO GO AHEAD . THE PRICE OF GAS KINDA BALANCED THINGS OUT.

THE NEXT DAY I WENT TO PICK UP THE PILLS AND IT WAS $262.57. I TOLD THE PHARMACIST I WAS QUOTED $210. HE EXPLAINED THAT THE GIRL I SPOKE TO WAS ONLY TEMPORARY AND MISQUOTED THE PRICES. I TOLD HIM I WAS TEMPORARY AND LEFT WITHOUT THE PILLS. ANYHOW I WOUND UP AT THE LOCAL WALMART PAYING $213.00

BETWEEN THE PRICE OF MEDS AND THE COST OF GAS, I'M REREADING MY BOOK ON A 101 WAYS TO USE GROUND BEEF, 50 WONDERFUL EGG MEALS, AND SHARING CAT FOOD DELICACIES WITH YOUR PET. AH, THE GOLDEN YEARS!

Marty,

You do give me a chuckle. So can you share some of the 101 ways to use ground beef? I'm glad I don't have to pay for gas or buy meds.

Marty,

Buy those meds from Canada while you can. I hear rumors they will not be allowing that for much longer. beer.gif Something about Canada not being able to support the needs of Canadian citizens as well as US citizens. I don't know for sure on that one though.

Good luck to you on search for cheaper meds.

There are some organizations to help with medication costs..

1. Rx assist

2. Needy Meds

3. The Medical Program

4. Rx Outreach

you can check these out on the internet

most pharmaceutical companies have assistance programs.

I just got a letter form Social Security saying I may be elibible for help for prescriptions drugs it is form SSA-1020-OCR-SM

it is getting bad when you have to decide between, medication, food and some gas for the car to go get either.

i've gotten relatively cheap meds from Rxnorth.com in Manitoba, Canada. My rheumatologist put me on Xenical at it wasn't covered by my plan. Duane Reade wanted to charge me over $195.00 for a 30 day supply. RxNorth charged me $99, free shipping. Unfortunately, it takes about 2-3 weeks for the initial prescription to arrive. There are a lot of forms to fill out initially, but you can fax the forms and your prescription to them.

The US-based "cheap" online pharmacies didn't work for me. They had to contact my doctor, but they never did, and they charge you a membership fee as well.

i personally feel that the people who are making money off the ridiculous oil prices should subsidize all of us for gas, medications, and at least two week one foreign vacation/cruise a year

MARTY,

YOU PROBABLY KNOW THAT THE FDA IS IN A CONSPIRACY WITH PHARMACEUTICAL COMANPANIES, RIGHT? WE CAN'T WIN FOR LOSING. MY VIEW ON MEDS, UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY, DO NOT TAKE THEM. THEY HAD ME ON AT LEAST 9 DIFFERENT PILLS, I COULD'T EVEN TELL YOU WHICH ONES, AND I INSISTED I BE TAKEN OFF THEM OVER TIME.

FUNNY THING???????? I AM BETTER SINCE I'M OFF THEM!!!!! BUT, IF YOU HAVE TO BE ON SOME, CANADA IS THE WAY TO GO SO I AM TOLD!!!!!!

YOU LEFT OUT MEATBALLS AND STUFFED BELL PEPPER WITH GROUND BEEF!!!!!!

OK, I do not get my meds from Canada but my sister and dog do! Actually, she is switching to the dogs drug company (of course they have a human division also, silly) Anyway, she has gotten meds from there for quite a time now and the deal was this. You had to say what countries you would accept the meds from and list about 6. She picked those that should be good. Of course, she has not had a stroke where we can't just go off them.

By the way, the dogs stuff comes from New Zealand (heart worm preventative) and I get Advantage for fleas also. Think it came from Australia.

My personal opinion is that we are getting a royal -------- with the new Medicare deal and I will not become part of it. I had a friend who was in an HMO and whose Dr. said she had to have the real thing (not a generic), and she got them probably for 5.00! We pay a lot of money to Medicare and do not get meds as those in an HMO do, however, I feel their quality of Dr.s isn't always the best (of course some of them are). I did overhear a woman at a medical office where I had taken literature (another of my weird jobs) and she was having trouble with her appointment, because her Dr. hadn't made it or something and the office wanted to reschedule it and she told them never mind. Seems she said she paid extra too to be able to go to specialist of her choice.
