down but not out

Ray had two falls in 24 hours, one last night about 6 pm and one this morning about 8am. Both times his "knee gave way". This morning it took a lot of effort to lift him as he was in the bathroom and there was not much room to move. And he didn't seem to be able to do anything to help himself. I brought the wheelchair in from the car, first time I've needed it in the house since late 1999. I finished up dressing him as he suddenly seemed to have no energy. He did improve by lunchtime so nothing more serious than a stubbed toe.

Question 1: Is the fall cause by one of the following, medication (e.g micardis), another TIA, lack of alertness?

Question 2: What should I do about it?

We were supposed to get a visit from a social worker from the Community Stroke Support team today but she didn't turn up. I suppose school holidays might have an effect there if she has school aged kids. No phone call, not a word. Still I filled in the time gardening and Ray slept through the whole afternoon so it was not wasted time.

We have a trip to see the neurologist's clinical nurse on Friday for cognitive tests, so I think I will mention the falls to her. No sense in going back to the GP.

I'll leave the wheelchair inside for a day or two, just in case.

Hi,

We aren't Drs so we can't answer your questions like they would.

I was on Macardis for my high b/p and became weak x 1 wk. When I went to my

GP my b/p was low.

It may be worthwhile to find out what his b/p is and have medication reaccessed

if necessary by your Dr.

Take Care
