Congratulations To Steve Mallory

Well I have been long enough to be two people, 10 pinman and now Scooterman, but I will always be Fred.

As Fred the Scooterman, I wanted to say my very big congratulations to Steve Mallory for a vision he had in forming a web site that so many have come to express themselves. We have this day over 4000 members. That's a mile stone in my mind ( Lost some brain cells), worthy of enjoying being a part of history.

I try to recognize all accomplishments, I know how I felt when I got my degree way back in 1979, that was a mile stone to me. I retired from the Army that same year after being on the Army Pistol Team for over 16 years.

So, Steve I congratulate you and I am proud to be a registered member of such a fine organization with many wonderful people across the United States and many other Countries around the world. We all have a common bond, Thank you Sir!!! happydance.gif

Wow, Fred! I guess you're no one to mess with....Army pistol team, I'm impressed. What's your degree in and how old were you when you got it? I graduated college 25 years after I started, so I know what's it's like going back when you're old enough to be most of the other student's parent.

Jean,

you got that right, in fact most of the students in my classes called me Pops or Bill Cosby as a look alike from way back.

My degree was in business (BA), I was 38, went in Army in 1958 right out of HS at 17, mother signed for me to enter. I started in CA in 1973 after Vietnam and finshed in Baumholder, Germany at the University of Maryland campus set up there for military, DOD personnel and the american dependents graduating from high school.

Got married in 1960, my first child (dau) was born in Munich in 1964, then my son here at Ft Hood, Tx in 1966. I had 16 years Army service in Germany alone. So I know the struggle in life first hand.

It takes years to finish when it's not priority one. They used to say "Listen Pvt or recruit or GI", "if the Army had wanted you to have a wife, they would have issued you one". That was when I wanted to go back home in Texas to get married. Thats why I say I have been married over 45 years total with 4 different ladies. BashHead.gif

You've got an interesting personal history, Fred! Thanks for sharing it. One thing is for sure, education---no matter what age you get a formal one---is never a waste of time. You are rich in life experiences.

Steve, i agree with Fred that you have created a unique, truly awesome stroke support website.

Fred and Jean, you both have histories which are exceptional and distinctive. Fred, do i count the time i was married by the time i actually lived with my husbands (12 yrs) or the time i was legally married/legally separated from them but living in the same house(13 years) or the time i was legally married to them (15 years)???
