Indian Summer

We've been having beautiful weather lateley....

After a hard frost when the weather gets warm again, it's called Indian summer. Least that's what we call it in Iowa.

Mid 70's in the day and downright cold at night...in 30's. Lovely blue sky.

Yes, it is heaven.

It has to be good or great someplace in the US, cause it's flooding the northeast and you know what the gulf coast is left with.

Many families won't have their homes to worrie about heating this winter comjng.

Hi Janice... As I scrolled the blogs your entry title caught my attention.. biggrin.gif I've always

been curious about word/expression origins and so I checked out the free web encyclopedia to see from where "Indian Summer" is derived..

I guess in the UK they call it "Old Wives Summer".....being from Oklahoma, I don't recall using or hearing either expression much....unless "Cheyenne Autumn' is the same' ..... although I bet some of my Cheyenne friends would have a different view. biggrin2.gif

I like the Fall.. birthday time for me.. but I too like warm days and cooler nights.. we don't get that much here.. more rain than anything..

Glad to hear you're getting good weather

we call it the same thing in northeastern Illinois. Every year the Chicago Tribune publishes on the back page of the magazine a poem and illustration on I. S. Today's gorgeous, sunny and 68. Fall gardening weather...... biggrin2.gif
