oh my aching bones

I have just farewelled my four year old grand daughter. She was here for twelve hours!! 12 hours!!

Her uncle and her Dad went for a public service exam in Sydney about an hour and a half's drive away. They got held up on road works, traffic jams etc (on a Sunday morning??) and missed the first five minutes of the exam, were told to come back at 1pm , and then the exam started at 2pm. So hence the long day.

She is a lovely little girl but oh so full on. And Sunday afternoon I generally put my feet up and beg off all other activities, and rest and relax, and relax, and nap. BUT today, at this time of night I am still stressed and achy and tired and oh dear!! I hope there is a rest period some time later in the week but the calendar makes it seem full on.

Ray is in bed, he went as soon as dinner was over, he too is tired out from the few activities he joined in, like throw the ball in the hoop and "watch this with me , Pa". It is the concentration that tired him out, she expects and gets 100% of his attention, the only person on earth who does.

But really I have no grounds for complaint, I love having her, enjoy the make believe, the games, her little jokes, the exercise just makes me sooo tired.

We did the Lions Club barbecue down at our local liquor outlet yesterday afternoon so standing for three hours turning sausages and cooking onions, assembling sandwiches etc made a tiring afternoon, so two busy days in a row and a busy week to come.

It isn't only survivors who feel tired, their caregivers get pretty tired too!!
