The excitement of feeding the birds

It has been a slow last 2 days around here in camp 'Shut-In.' Hubby our entertainer is out working, the snow/ice comes and kiddo and I are here at camp'Shut-In.' Mommy is too scared of falling to be a fun parent outside. I try to play with my kiddo but there is only so much'pretending' I can do. Especially when my kiddo is changing the rules every second.

I dug out some expired bird seed from the my classroom graveyard in the garage. I teach a mini lesson to my kiddo, to build up the excitement of birds eating our food, then we sprinkle it out on the patio,(forget about it). Then I see flocks and flocks of birds, outside our back door. She got so excited standing there with her nose pressed up against the glass window.

I got filled with joy, I had to fight back a few happy smushy tears.

It hit me today, that I could see myself liking watching/feeding the birds. *Shudder* A good stagnant hobby to have.

Actually today I have had my nose in this "Square Foot Gardening book" I caught the ol' Spring fever Monday when it was 70 degrees here. I am really good at starting projects, but not good at finishing.

I think it would be fun to try to harvest a few veggies this summer with my daughter.Dunno? Just throwing the idea around.

I would say that our excitement of today is feeding our feathered friends.

you give me complex, you are such a great person coming up with all these things to keep your kido entertained. I guess I still need to learn patience with kids, I get frustrated with my son sometime when he says I don't understand what you are trying to explain, & it is such obvious thing, right now I m working with him in writing assignments for his NJASK3 test, he is A student(like A-)& I want him to be straight A

Amy you could do some container gardening in Big pots or hubby build you a raised bed .. so you don't have to get down on the ground..

I put in a garden one yr. but had problems keeping up and then getting down to ground level and getting back up so now we do raised beds..

Even a couple tomato plants in pots are fun..

Getting myself interested in new things is my problem - with the paralysis on my right side, I have to have my husbands help with a new project. I would like to have a waist high garden on the back deck of our house. I could work with it during the day and probably grow something (flowers, possibly squash or something like that). The problem I can foresee is trying to explain what I want to do without him getting somewhat flustered with me taking so long to explain. With my garden space being limited and the necessary height where I could sit while tending it should I need to, this would be an ideal project for me !!

Thands for giving me an idea !
