GOTTA FESS UP

OK,

I "TRIED" TO "MAINSTREAM" WHEN I MOVED FROM ALABAMA TO KENTUCKY AND LIE TO MY NEW EMPLOYER ABOUT MY "CONDITION". I REALLY THOUGHT NO ONE WOULD KNOW. GUESS WHAT, THEY DO DO DO NOTICE AND HAVE WAY WRONG IMPRESSIONS.

I DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL. I HAVE A NON STROKE RELATED PANCREATIC CONDITION, BASICALLY REALLY LOW BLOOD SUGAR, WHICH WHEN IT GETS REAL LOW, MAKES MY BREATH SMELL KINDA "FRUITY".

ALSO I HAVE NEUROLOGICAL TREMORS. I TAKE A MED FOR THIS, BUT WHEN I "OVER DO", WHICH I HAVE LATELY, I SHAKE.

ALSO, WE HAVE THE "BALANCE" SITUATION GOING ON WHICH IS NOT OFTEN. HOWEVER, WITH THIS NEW JOB, EVERYTHING I AM NOT SUPPOSED TO BE DOING , I AM.TODAY, A MANAGER ASKED ME IF I HAD A "DRINK" BEFORE I CAME TO WORK, AS I WAS CLOCKING OUT. I SAID" WHY WOULD YOU EVEN THINK THAT?". SHE SAID, YOU SMELL LIKE BOOZE AND YOU STUMBLE SOME AND SHAKE.

I WAS SO SO SO SO SO SO SO EMBARRASSED THAT I RESPONDED" I GET NERVOUS WHEN I AM NEW AND THAT MAKES ME SHAKE AND STUMBLE, AND IT MUST BE MY HAIRSPRAY". THEN I SAID, " I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY. I WILL BE HAPPY TO TAKE A DRUG OR ALCOHOL TEST". SHE THEN REPLIES, DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT, IT'S PROBABLY JUST ME TODAY.

I WAS SO SO SO SO HUMILIATED I COULD DIE. NOW, I GUESS WHEN I GET THE GUTS UP, I WILL HAVE TO TELL THE TRUTH. I WAS SO SO SO SO HOPING TO GET AWAY WTH BEING "NORMAL." OBVIOUSLY, I CAN NOT. I AM BALLING MY EYES OUT.

.

Kim,

It's much better that they know the truth than to let their imaginations run wild and not give you a chance, especially since your new employer has already questioned a few inconsistencies. You do not have to be ashame of having medical problems! Hold your head up and have the talk.

Sweetie having a medical condtion does not make you NOT normal..

My husband hired an employee that has some medical conditions.

She told me about them and I was very glad she was up front about it.

We hired her, for her personality and because she was suitable for the job. Knowing her medical condition .... makes me know how to react and what do do if something happens.

I think your employer would be better knowing.. and not come to wrong.. conclusions ....

You are working, you are adjusting... nothing wrong in that.. give yourself a big pat on the back!!!

and {{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}} from me, now get that chin back up!!!

I am still trying to understand why you would not tell truth to your employer. why you should be ashamed of your condition, hey it was accident and could happen to anyone. no one is mortal around here, I agree with Jean and tell truth to your employer rather they run wild with silly ideas

Kimmy Honey,

Why would you want to be "normal"? :giggle:

You are so special and spectacular just being you!!!

March in there on Tuesday and tell them you're a survivor - you should be proud of how far you've come!

I know I'm proud of you!

Now, go dry your eyes before you wreck your mascara girlfriend! :giggle:

I love ya, just the way you are, and when they really get to know you - they'll love you too!

Hi,

Ya,I would let them know I'm a survivor if I was you.

The people you work with will treat you in a much different way and respect you.

I want to work again ,but my deficits are invisible and my insurance co. will not allow me to work.

You sure are motivated to get out and try!

Take Care

Hey Kimmer,

I think you should tell them...It would be their lost if they decided not to keep you. I have only had the opportunity to read a couple of your blogs and even your response to a few of mine and you seem sincere. I know it must be hard, I fear my return to work. Good Luck.

SO ALL OF YA'LL, MY FRIENDS AND SUPPORTERS WILL KNOW, I FESSED UP TODAY WITH MY TRAINER. SHE IS SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SWEET.

SHE WANTED TO KNOW ALL ABOUT IT AND WAS AMAZED. SHE SAID SHE WOULD HAVE NEVER KNOWN. SHE SAID SHE JUST THOUGHT I WAS A LITLE NERVOUS AND A LITTLE CLUMSY. SHE SAID I AM DOING A GREAT JOB AND WILL SPEAK TO THE GENERAL MANAGER ON MY BEHALF. SHE SAYS I AM TOO HARD ON MYSELF.

SHE ALSO PROMISES SECRECY, AND I TRUST HER. I DON'T KNOW WHY REALLY, I JUST DO. I RESPECT HER. SHE ALSO DID SOMETHING SHE ISN'T SUPPOSED TO DO, SHE GAVE ME TABLES TO WAIT ON,ONLY A FEW,SO I COULD MAKE SOME MONEY. I MADE $15 IN ONE HOUR WITH 3 CUSTOMERS AND GET THIS, *****GOT A GOOD COMMENT CARD***************

MY TRAINER, PATTI, SAID THAT NEVER HAPPENED WITH A NEWBIE BEFORE AND SHE HAS WORKED AT THIS RESTAURANT FOR 8 YEARS AT 7 DIFFERENT LOCATIONS. I FEEL SO SO SO SO SO MUCH BETTER NOW.

ALSO, SHE SAID THAT EXPLAINED WHY I HAD TROUBLE WITH THE COMPUTER SCREEN( MY BLINDNESS) AND SHE ADJUSTED IT SO I COULD SEE BETTER. SHE SAID SHE HAD THOUGHT I JUST HADN'T MEMORIZED THEIR MENU CODES. SHE AND I ARE 2 DAYS APART IN AGE AND VERY MUCH ALIKE. I THINK I HAVE MADE A REAL FRIEND.

SHE TOLD ME THAT EVEN IF I HADN'T TOLD HER, SHE STILL THOUGHT I WAS AN EXCELLENT EMPLOYEE. ALSO, SHE HAS DIABETES AND UNDERSTANDS ABOUT THE 'FRUITY BREATH". SHE SAID THAT PARTICULAR MANAGER IS ALWAYS ON THE "LOOKOUT" FOR ALCOHOL AND DRUG USE. SHE SAID DON'T GIVE IT A SECOND THOUGHT AS IF THEY FORCE ME TO TAKE THAT TEST, AND I PASS, IT'S LAWSUIT CITY.

PATTI SAID THAT THE FACT THAT I OFFERED TO TAKE THE DRUG/ALCOHOL TEST, WILL PROBABLY SHUT HER UP. SO,ONCE MY SUPERVISOR SPEAKS WITH THE GENERAL MANAGER, I FEEL I WILL HAVE NO PROBLEMS. I WOULD HAVE BEEN TOO AFRAID TO SPEAK UP IF YA'LL HAD'NT GIVEN ME THE ENCOURAGEMENT.

THANKS TO ALL

LOVE YA

KIM
