Making it up as I go along

My OT asked me this morning what exercises do I do at home? I started giggling because all my home exercises are "made up". For example, when I'm in the bath, I reach for the shampoo or at least I try to! Then once out the bath, I practise balancing on one leg paying special attention to not letting my knee conk in!!! As you can tell I have ABSOLUTELY nothing exciting to blog about!!! <_<

Ray does his "own" exercises too, they are a cut down version of what he is supposed to do. I nag him because I want him to do the lot as set out by the physio therapist but something is better than nothing.

 

I guess you get a lot of exercise working and running a household but sometimes the formal exercises are more specific at targetting certain muscle groups.

 

I like the balancing on one leg exercise, now if you coud just learn to meditated at the same time....lol

*****ME TOO************. MY NEUROLOGIST ( IN HIS INFINITE WISDOM) DIDN'T ORDER ME ANY PHYSICAL THERAPY. I AM A LITTLE OVER TWO YEARS POST STROKE AND SPENT THE FIRST YEAR FALLING DOWN AND BUMPING INTO WALLS. ( STILL DO THAT SOME)

 

 

I TOOK IT UPON MYSELF TO "PRESCRIBE' MY OWN THERAPY. FIRST I WENT AND JOINED THE CARDIAC GYM AT THE HOSPITAL WHERE I WAS TREATED. I GOT LUCKY AND GOT A PERSONAL TRAINER WHO WAS ALSO A PT. HE WAS *****SHOCKED**** ( THEY GET OUR MEDICAL CHARTS) THAT I HAD NO PRESCRIBED THERAPY.

 

 

ANYWAY, A FEW MONTHS WITH HIM AND MY "OWN" PT, I AM SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO MUCH BETTER.IT DIDN'T HURT HE WAS CUTE AND YOUNG EITHER. LOL. SERIOUSLY, I DO LEG LIFTS WHICH THE HARDEST PART IS CROSSING THAT LEFT OVER RIGHT AND BENDING DOWN TO TOUCH THE FLOOR. I CAN OLY DO TEN ON THAT SIDE AS OPPOSED TO 50 ON THE OTHER.( WITH EASE)

 

 

I AM BOUT 2 YEARS POST STROKE AND WILL NOT GIVE UP NO MATTER WHAT I HAVE TO DO ON MY OWN. I "MAKE IT UP" AS I GO AS WELL. I THINK IT WORKS FOR ME.
