Sam had a mold of her foot and leg made to fit an AFO the other day. Need to go back and get a final fitting done next week. Went to the ENT Dr. because her throat is bothering her from where the trach tube was pulled. Couldn't do that all in one sitting. Made another appointment to have a look-see in her larynx, but we can't do that for another 2 weeks. Had an appointment with the neuro-opthomologist (sp?) but now we need to go to another eye Dr. to look at the muscles in her eyelids. Holy Smokes Batman!! Why does one appointment lead to one or two more?? These guys must play golf together. Let's see how far we can work this one boys!!.

:whack: Asked my son if he had heard anything about his college apps, and he shows me his acceptance letters to the University of OK and OK State University. DATED 22 AND 23 FEB. GOOD THING I DIDN'T NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THAT!!!! :BashHead: I'm just the checkbook!!!!!!!!!

We've been out fishing the past few days. Sam does quite well. We fish off public docks, and she catches a bunch of crappies. I get her set up, bait her hook with minnows, and she does the rest. Don't know what it is, but she outfishes most folks at least three fish to one. Whatever it is, it works. She enjoys getting out of the house and getting the fresh air.

Got an interesting survey call from my investment company today. Girl asked what my job was. I said "airline pilot". She asked if it was spelled "pilET" or "pilUT". :dunce: (no joke!!) I feel real good about them handling my munie!!!

REALLY!!!!!!!!

SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE YOUR "MUNNY" IN A REAL SAFE "FURM".

IT'S GREAT SAM CAN OUTFISH EVERYONE. THE FRESH AIR HAS GOT TO BE HELPFUL AS WELL, I KNOW IT IS TO ME!!! I AM GLAD THAT YOU TAKE EVERY OPPORTUNITY YOU CAN, ALL THE WHILE REMAINING EMPLOYED, TO SPEND WITH YOUR WIFE AND CARE FOR HER. WHAT A LUCKY LADY SHE IS. SHE MUST BE VERY SPECIAL HERSELF.

It must be a challenge for you and Sam sometimes, when you have to leave town so often for work. Nice contrast--sitting peacefully fishing with the family, and then flying to Ethiopia or Japan.

I'm guessing it's doubly hard for Sam being away from her own country while she recovers. My husband is in the same situation, and from time to time a brother will come visit briefly. Nice that you and Sam have your children around. And congratulations to your son on two counts--his acceptance into college, and his staying in his home state where he is relatively near you both. Good for him. He must like you!

Where to next?

It's a challenge to be in this business and take care of Sam, but I get one day off for every day I work, so when I'm home I try to make it count. The kids have gone above and beyond what I need them to do.

I usually stay on a "reserve status" because I get more time off than if I had a regular schedule. The down side is that they can call me out to go anywhere, sometimes on VERY short notice. I've got some folks that I can call to help out, and the neighbors here are GREAT! An RN lives right next door, the others are all retired and can bail me out in a pinch.

I met Sam in 1981, and the first time I talked to her she said the words every guy wants to hear. "I'm going fishing tomorrow. Want to go?" (Pinch me, I must be dreaming!!!!)
