Wow, it is just plain ol' Friday here and it will probably be lamb chops, mashed potatoes, peas and carrots and shredded spinach with lamb and Rosemary gravy.

But Happy Thanksgiving Rolly and good to see you posting again.

Sue.

My wife is downstairs fixing oyster dressing. I thought that was sorta a Lousiana thing along with fried turkey. Walmart sold out of fried turkey cookers and peanut oil yesterday.

I guess a lot of folks wanted to try fried turkey today.

I get tired just standing there watching her fix all that stuff so I'm sure it's a huge issue for you being the chef, how you do it Rolly?

Would someone please explain to me what the appeal is to deep fat frying a turkey? Seems like a dangerous thing to do. I have too many kitchen accidents with simple things. What is the matter with baking?

Lin,

Deep fried turkey sounds gross to me.

We went to Don's nephew's and they didn't even have cranberries! :Tantrum:

My brother in law deep fried the turkey.... It was very good and moist. actually once the meat was on the platter you couldn't tell the difference, between it being fried or baked.

I would NEVER attempt this... I am with Lin.. I get enough cuts, burns, etc .... besides I like the stuffing/dressing in the turkey.

I have smoked one in a smoker and it was yummy ...

My brother deep fried a turkey a couple of years ago, and it was very crispy skin, and very moist and delicious inside.

Definitely no batter like KFC! (~_~) I think he probably used some kind of rub on it (i.e. poultry seasoning based?).
