Well looks like my last blog was in October... Iam an on and off blogger...lol

Well our employee Laurie is back to work.... this is double edged. It means her dad has passed on, but then again his suffering has ended. Lauried said Hospice has been coming and the whole family was with him and he had a peaceful end. We are HAPPY to have her back and she is also glad to be back.

I have had time at home... I am going in a few hours a week, just enough not to become a hermit..lol

On those days I usually do a little shopping or errands. Stores I can stroll around in that John doesn't like.lol.

We went to my sister in laws for Thanksgiving dinner. She only lives about three miles down the road.

Tuesday my daughter was here to help, she painted a wall in the laundry room, we tore out some old cabinets, and are putting down new floor. John found a "wopnderful" cabinet. It has a marble top and loads of drawers and shelves. I am using it as my "baking center" yeah I can get some stuff out of the kitchen.

We also made bannana nut bread. I made 3 large loaves and 2 mini ones. I took a loaf to sister in laws. On Wednesday I made 2 pumpkin and a pecan pie. I used smaller pie plates so had some dough and filling left over so I made some mini pies in my muffin pan. John was HAPPY he had goodies to munch on and didn't have to wait..

My daughter and family went to mother in laws for Thanksgiving so I decided to cook here Sunday.

I also invited a friend and her family (5). Daughter's friend was visiting from California so we invited her also. Saturday I made more pies, a blackberry, 2 pumpkin and a pecan. A loaf of bread in the bread machine. I got the green bean casserole and the sweetpotato casserole prepared. Sunday I made bread dough for rolls in the bread machine, shaped the dough and let it rise. Got dressing, turkey ready and in the oven. It was raining in the morning and around noon it started to snow, and snow and snow.

Everyone was expected around 3pm. Yikes more snow. about 6 inches by then...

Well everyone made it safely, the power stayed on. I made gravy, mashed potatoes, little munchie plate, silver ware etc.. out and ready...

We have had some pot lucks or easy dinners, but this is the first large (12 of us) dinner I have done all on my own.since the stroke. Tracy and others pitched in loaded the dishwasher, we had 3 of us putting left overs away.

Two trees had fallen over our road in so my son in law & grandson went out with the chain saw and cut them down. It was still snowing.

We all had pie and then they headed out .... everyone called when they got home safely.

We were snowed in. Tuesday John & I ventured out.. we had 2 bags of wood pellets left for our pellet stove. I said go south (we live between 2 towns) we had been hearing noth was even worse.

We got pellets and quick trip in the grocery store and home. The roads were VERY icy and we were glad to get back home safely. John's store was closed all this time due to weather and terrible road conditions.

He made it in on Thursday but closed at 3pm. Friday was better although the side streets were still icy and ruts.

Saturday we went into town, I needed to pick up some samples from my Dr's office and the freeway and main roads all clear. John pulled up at the Dr's office. I got out of the car, I could see the parking lot was icy in some spots so was being careful.... then BAM.... flat on my back. I had stepped on some "black ice" like galss and both fett went out from under me. John had been looking of to the side.. he looked forward and didn't see me going in the door.. He jumped out of the van and found me on my back on the ground. Iwas kind of afraid to move as I was laying on a sheet of ice.. He got me up and into the Dr's office.

I felt myself going and didn't have much time to react but did pull my head up so it didn't bounce off the concrete.. going down all I could think was "my head" We got in, they asked if I was okay and I said I think so.... I am a bit shook up. John chastised them about the ice.. and it was in the handicapped spot, of all places.. Any how I have been a bit sore. but I am "thankful" I didn't hit my head, my brains are scramlbled enough.

Wow, Bonnie, I am so glad you weren't hurt too much in the fall, I remember ice from when I was a small girl in England and the hazards of walking on it.

The baking days sound like Ray's Mum, she was a wizard in the kitchen and we once had a party when she was on a visit and took over the kitchen that sounds a lot like what you did. She was AWESOME!

Glad you did another blog, I love the way you describe your life, and as we had a very hot day on Friday it is SUCH a contrast.

I am so glad you did not hit your head to concrete, its scary falling on black ice, I remembered that Atkins guy dying falling on side walk of NYC, be careful, and don't venture out in bad snow, I think someone was watching out for you.
