my doctor

well, the education continues. my dr was on the stand this week, testifying on my behalf because, of the stupid er dr. he really wants er drs not to be afraid of tpa, it is not that dangerous of a drug as long as they follow the protocols of giving it, i had a 60% chance of coming away without deficits from the stroke, he said i was a dream candidate for a dr wanting to give tpa. my dr is head of the stroke center at barrow institute in phoenix, he was only a phone call away that nite, but the er dr had somewhere to go that night and left at midnite and if he had given me tpa he would have had to stay and monitor me, which he didn't want to do. he could have transferred me like my husband had asked if he wasn't going to give the tpa. this drug was approved for stroke by the fda, my chance of bleeding, once given the drug was less than 1%. people need to be aware of this drug and ask for it. my dr writes articles and gives lectures on tpa. no one should be treated like that when going to a hospital for help in a life or death situation. i dont know to many drs that will interrupt their day to testify on behalf of their patient.
