100 Things You Might, or Might Not, Want to know

Everyone is making a list. Here's mine:

 

1. I was born on August 2, 1951.

 

2. I'm the only one in my family that was born in the county I live in.

 

3. I 'flunked' kindergarten because of a speech problem.

 

4. My dad 'served' in WW II.

 

5. My mom and dad were married in 1948.

 

6. I only have one sister.

 

7. She is older by 14 months.

 

8. My first 'real' job was a dishwasher in a Steak House.

 

9. I almost drown 2 days after my 4th birthday.

 

10. When I was in the third grade, I 'forgot' my name when I introduced myself, after I was in a play.

 

11. I also worked at a Fast Food restaurant that was owned by a County Commissioner.

 

12. Also, I worked at a gas station, where we pumped the gas, we washed the windows & we checked the oil.

 

13. When I was 5 years old, I had my tonsils & adenois out.

 

14. My baby crib was made out of iron (for those that remember the OLD baby cribs).

 

15. One time, I 'broke' my glass baby bottle on my crib. Cut my knee with the glass.

 

16. Our one neighbor use to take us for rides on her pony.

 

17. We use to go to Hershey Park every year for a AAA picnic.

 

18. I cut off half my big toe with a lawnmower, when I fell mowing the grass.

 

19. I also worked 6 years at a department store.

 

20. My last day of work, which was Halloween, I wore a tuxedo to work.

 

21. I met my 'future' wife at this job.

 

22. We went on a vacation, before we were married, to Washington DC.

 

23. We went as 'husband and wife'.

 

24. We 'wore' matching 'wedding bands'.

 

25. Our ring fingers turned green.

 

26. We still have those rings.

 

27. My first date was a 'blind date'.

 

28. This date was two years before I met my 'future' mate.

 

29. We only went out three times, before we 'broke up'.

 

30. Someone 'bet' me $20.00 that I WOULDN'T go on the blind date.

 

31. I went. The money PAID for the date that night.

 

32. Graduated from high school in 1970.

 

33. Girlfriend had a one-year-old daughter when I met her.

 

34. Wife also graduated in 1970 from a different high school. Same county though.

 

35. We were married on May 18, 1975.

 

36. Our current house number is 518.

 

37. I had quadruple coronary heart bypass graft the day after Christmas 1994.

 

38. I had right shoulder rotator cuff surgery in March 1994.

 

39. Had the same shoulder done again in February 2003.

 

40. My mom used to make 'boiled diced potatoes' EVERY NIGHT for supper.

 

41. I have not had them since I got married.

 

42. We would have Pig Stomach once a month for Sunday Dinner.

 

43. My dad would go hunting for groundhog, rabbit, squirrel, pheasant, deer.

 

44. I would go deer hunting the first two days of deer season.

 

45. When I was younger, I would 'jump' my sled from 'ramp-to-ramp'.

 

46. Or, I would try and sled down the hill on one runner.

 

47. One time, we dug a tunnel and used kerosene lights at the entrance. I missed the entrance and 'wiped out' two kerosene lights.

 

48. The only thing I can say in PA Dutch i "Como de Essa" Which is "Come and eat".

 

49. The entire 12 years of schooling, I rode the school bus.

 

50. In the summertime, I would get paid $5 each to wash the school buses. There were 20 of them. I didn't have to wash them all.

 

51. On our honeymoon, I stood in the Unemployment Line with my wife, hand-in-hand, for 6 hours.

 

52. My favorite color is burgandy.

 

53. My wife and I have a son and a daughter together.

 

54. I was in the delivery room BOTH times.

 

55. I 'personally' weighed and measured my son. 19 1/2 inches long, 6 lb. 6 1/2 oz.

 

56. He was born at 6:06 AM.

 

57. Our daughter was born on April 2, at 1:44 AM.

 

58. She was born with 'bilateral clubfoot on a slant'.

 

59. She had casts on her feet when she was less than 6 hours old.

 

60. OOPS !! Son was born on November 19, 1975.

 

61. I use to do counted cross-stitch.

 

62. My stroke was on June 26, 1998.

 

63. I have been on Mission Trips to North Carolina.

 

64. I have flown in a helicopter that had no doors on.

 

65. 28 1/2 years after graduating from high school, I went to culinary school.

 

66. Graduated culinary school in May 2000.

 

67. My GPA was 3.82.

 

68. I have eaten eel, buffalo, emu, ostrich, goose liver (froi gras), moose, escargo (snails).

 

69. I 'rolled' a vehicle 3 times, in 1972, and 'walked' away from it.

 

70. I have no patience for fishing or hunting.

 

71. My first 'fishing rod' was a tree limb and kite string.

 

72. With this 'rod', I did 'catch' a rainbow trout, but the &%@$#? string broke, and I lost the trout.

 

73. I worked for 16 years fixing flat tires on tractor trailers.

 

74. I did service calls during the night also.

 

75. One time, I was called to fix a flat tire, in Texas, and I live in Pennsylvania.

 

76. I NEVER had a truck rim 'fly apart'.

 

77. One time though, I did have a truck 'fall off' the jack.

 

78. Another time, I had to change two tires on a truck that was carrying dynamite and blasting caps.

 

79. I LOVE to 'bake' angel food cakes on the gas grill, in my yard.

 

80. I have 'baked' 64 so far.

 

81. Last summer, I cooked at a Boy Scout camp, in Windsor, New York.

 

82. I am no longer employed, because I 'destroyed' my right rotator cuff.

 

83. My last job was an omelet chef at a resort and conference center.

 

84. I could make 6 omelets, and fry 8 - 10 eggs, all at one time, while the customer 'watched' me make them, in front of their eyes.

 

85. At my church, I prepare a meal, one Sunday a month.

 

86. I also prepare a men's breakfast every third month, at church.

 

87. I an 'certified' with the state of Pennsylvania, in Food Safety.

 

88. I have been 'barred' from three McDonald's because I 'turned them in' for food safety violations.

 

89. One of the teenagers from my church, asked me to 'cater' his Eagle Scout Banquet.

 

90. I cook hot dogs, hamburgers and hot sausage, for our local police department, while they 'work' the Downtown 4th of July Celebration.

 

91. This will be my fourth year.

 

92. I have also 'catered' a 50th Wedding Anniversary Party, and a small wedding reception.

 

93. My step-daughter got married in a 'civil ceremony' and I provided the small wedding reception.

 

94. I don't drink alcohol, but I do use it for cooking.

 

95. One time my neighbor called the fire department because he thought my gas grill was on fire. I was just 'smoking' a 14-lb turkey.

 

96. My dream vacation would be a month cooking in a foreign country.

 

97. My wife and I have 7 grandchildren - 6 grand-daughters and 1 grandson.

 

98. I HATE Martha Stewart with a passion.

 

99. My wife and I have been to chef conventions in Philadelphia, PA; Newport, RI; Charleston WV; Rochester, NY.

 

100. I am a member of the American Culinary Federation - Susquehanna Valley Chefs' Association.

 

And, here is an extra one, just for good luck.

 

101. My chef chapter has awarded me the 2005 Chef of the Year.

 

 

Hopefully, this will tell alittle about me. I went to Culinary School AFTER I had my stroke. And I am proud of it.

You have a a right to be proud of it.

I bet your heart pounded when changing the tire of the trailer with the dynamite, mine would have. wacko.gif

Wish I could be tutored by you in cooking. I can barely boil water. silly.gif
