HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Happy Thanksgiving To All.

I know all here are thinkg of Thanksgiving and all we have to be Thankful For. Caregivers, Family of Survivors and Survivors.

I used to do the Big Thanksgiving Dinners, but my sister-in-law has been doing them. I usually take a side dish and dessert.

I started baking yesterday as I know it takes me longer in the kitchen ( I am learning .... I dont move as fast, but I am Thankful I can move and use my arms. I get tired easier .. but I am Thankful to be able to do .. and learning not to push past a certain point.

I can no longer multi-task.. so have learned to set out all ingredients before I begin. to prepare the things to go in the dish, like measuring the spices into a small bowl, chopping the nuts, etc.

I also set ingredients on the right, and after I put it in the dish I move it to the left... so I know I put it in.

Yesterday I made apple pies: I can use my left hand, but it is a bit clumsy and gets very tired trying to hold onto things to peel.

We picked up a black and decker handy stripper. I used it to peel the apples, it did pretty well and I only had to peel a little bit. I also have one of the push down apple slicer/corers. It cut the apple into 8 chunks, which i could hold and slice.

I know many surviovers here have only use of one arm/hand. I am so Thankful I can use my left one. My heart goes out to those who can't and I am soooo impressed, awed for those who cook and bake one handed. :Clap-Hands: :Clap-Hands: :forgive_me?:

I know tomorrow will be a bit overwhelming .. but I have learned to take breaks away from the noise and activity.. A few minutes away/.a little walk outside .. and i can go back.

Great news.. the "kids" are coming over for ThanksGiving. Tracy and "Bear" will go to Bear's mom's house for dinner, but Bill will be going with us. :)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU ALL... MY CYBER FAMILY and know you are a part of my blesssings

Bonnie,

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family as well. Glad the kids are coming and that Bill will be with you as well for dinner.

I am in awe of what you can accomplish in the kitchen. I miss holiday baking but have adjusted with my one-handedness. Me and Mrs Smith baked an apple pie yesterday and today I prepared an ambrosia salad to take to my Aunties house for this evening's festivities. Tomorrow we just have to be present with our appetites :thumbs up: as my nephew is chief cook and his wife does sides and his MIL does desserts.

Hope your day went as planned ad everything came out OK. You did your homework. It is wise for all to cook the way you did, settin everything out and measured. Even non-strokers can learn from you.......Enjoy having the family, especially your big grandson.Phyllis
