Thanks to all who commented on my last Blog entry.

I have had some other thoughts, but they were when I was not near a computer... like driving, or sitting at Dr's office.. and of course, by the time i got home... they were gone.

Thank you all for sharing your ups and downs, for a safe place to share and have such wonderful warm friendship.

I was raised in the "era" of Ozzie & Harriet, Leave It To Beaver.

My mother was a homemaker, everything ironed, everyone looking good, clean ironed and "bowed" before we left the house..lol

Nothing must look amiss to anyone outside. Problems, finances, etc were not spoken about.. to us or any outsiders.. Everything was "always" fine..

It has been hard for me to learn to "open up" except with a few people.

I like people, i have always been out-going and friendly, a jokster, etc...

Now I am learning I can express emotions/feelings and trust others.

THANK YOU

Bonnie,

I feel the same as you. Here is a safe place to open up. As a child our closets were full of skeletons and things that were just not discussed. Denial to the max - life was not perfect that's for sure.

Granted we are not in a perfect world but here we can open up and reflect on how we're feeling and even what we're fearing.

God Bless Steve for giving us Strokenetwork. God Bless our cyber family.

bonnie,

thank you again for putting your thoughts into words. i too was taught that the proper reply to most questions were i'm fine, it's fine, we are fine etc - no matter what we were feeling. one positive aspect of my stroke has been learning about my feelings and realizing they are okay.they are just part of who i am. this site is a haven for sharing our most positive hopes and feelings as well as our fears, anger and sadness. it is all safe and accepted here -what a gift - thanks kathy

Bonnie:

thanks again, I realized atleast on this site you can tell what you are feeling, and it's okay to be not happy all the time.

I am so glad you are sharing your wisdom with all of us which we all need from time to time.

Asha
