sometimes I overcomplicate things....

Just a short true story I must share with you all. I had the SUV parked outside for a week or so, and the doors froze shut. Fortunately, the drivers side door opened with difficulty. Yesterday it warmed near freezing, so I drove the car awhile and really warmed it up. I then tried all the doors, no luck. I then clicked the door lock button, and the "frozen" doors instantly opened. Sometimes the simple things are too obvious......

Thanks for the laugh. Everyone has times when this kind of thing happens. Even those who have not had strokes. :D

I had about the same thing happen a few weeks ago. The trunk opened and I got out the ice scraper but couldn't open the drivers door or the rear doors. After 30 minutes of prying and banging on the drivers door, no luck. Then the thought hit me...Try the passenger side door, it opened like it wasn't frozen shut.

Then I took my cane and hit on the drivers door from the inside, no luck. So I entered from the passengers side and drove to work about 2 miles. By that time I got there it opened but the open door red light would not go off and still won't.

Now I keep a can of deicer for that purpose.

Yes, we have all been there done that I think.. Have a lock de-icer... but it is inside the car.... hmm maybe not the best place for it. I have heated a key with a cigarette lighter. Sometimes the "easiest" solutions escapes us...
