Ladies, There ARE, Yet Gentlemen in the World

As things would have it, the "Birthday Boy" mentioned in my last post, sent me a text on Thursday evening asking me out for dinner and a movie for Friday. I chose the movie, he chose the restaurant. We met for dinner.

Turns out we share the same favorite place, Logan's Steakhouse. Dinner was a lot of chatting and laughing, making us almost late for the movie.

21 Jump Street, which we both went into thinking, at the very least, would be a tongue-in-cheek omage to the television show we watched as youths, turned out to be a pretty good action movie and a good comedy on top of that. We both had a good laugh, and the hand holding "to stop us from fighting over the armrest" was very nice too.

Walking back through the parkinglot, from the movie house to our cars, he looks at me and asks, "so, do you want to go home now, or would you like to go some place else?" "I don't want to go home yet," was my answer. He followed me back to my apartment to drop off my SUV, and we took his car for the rest of the night.

So, it being a shadowcast weekend, we decided to relive another movie from our youth and took in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, complete with live cast, all the raunchy audience participation remarks, a lot of which have changed very much since my days on cast, and cast members who spent most of their high school weekends and vacations at my house, hanging out with my kids (2 of which are current members of the shadowcast.). They were a little surprised to see "Mom" come out for the performance, and even a little more surprised to see that "Mom" was out on a date.

After the show, a lot of introductions, a lot of handshakes and hugs with wispers of "I'm really glad to see you out and having a good time," he drove me home. Neiter of us really wanted the evening to be over yet, even at an hour past 2 am, so we spent the next 45 or so minutes discussing favorite literature, art and music. We seem to have a lot in common.

Finally, it was decided that we both should be getting some sleep, so he came around to my side of the car and opened the door, then handed me out of the car (he held open doors, pushed in chairs and did everything else a gentleman would do for a lady all evening long). One rather protracted good-night kiss and a promise of another date later, and Monster was welcoming me back into the apartment.

A quick check of my email was also protracted by his logging on to yahoo messaging. I thanksed him, again, for a really great night and did admit I was a little saddened that it had to end. "I had a really great time too. Think of it as a postponement until the next time, not and ending" was the message he sent back. It was well after 3:30 in the morning befroe my head was out of the clouds enough to lay it on the pillow for the night. Somehow, I managed to fall asleep.

This morning, my feet haven't quite touched ground yet, and I feel a little giddy yet. I can't wait until next we speak.

This is a high I will enjoy riding out for as long asd I possibly can and hope that turns into rather a long bit of time.
