Dinner, wine, a ride in the country...
Kelly again...but this time we both had doctor's appointments. Mine went well. Looks like I will be sticking around for a while. Kelly's doc got her attention and let her know that if she doesn't face facts and get rid of some stress, she probably won't. How's that for low stress!
So, I asked her to take me to get a pizza. And I brought it home to her kids and asked Miss Mary Jo to watch the kids a while and then told Kelly to "Let's go" and took her out for dinner.
The good thing about Kelly owning a restaurant for years and me being in food service for 30 years is we know all the best places to go. But no matter how great a place is they always have a bad night and tonight we were there for it! We ordered appetizers and Kelly ordered a glass of wine. She burned the roof of her mouth on the appetizer and drank her wine to find the bottom of her wine glass filled with gnats! The manager and bartender were horrified but we laughed and said it happens when some of the bartenders leave the bottle uncorked. The manager opened a new bottle and poured Kelly one--no charge for either glass. They brought me a cup of coffee and when I poured in the creamer it didn't even change color! So, back to the drawing board on the coffee! When all was said and done dinner for two AND drinks cost me $7.04.
We had a great time though, laughing and both out of our stressful environments. So off we went to Walgreens to return something Kelly had purchased and Kelly was enjoying her freedom and didn't want to go home yet so we bought a drink (soft drink) and went for a drive to a private community where Dave's parents own a home with a private beach. There were huge horse farms and mansions and pastures loaded with deer--on field had 40 deer in it, I know! There is no hunting allowed so the deer didn't care that we were there. Man! It was really relaxing.
On the way home we saw Kelly got a little serious and thanked me. I told her if my body would let me I would do more. She said that I wasn't her friend because of my body and I looked at her and said " But that's a good thing, right?" She blushed and laughed and said "You know what I mean! You're a better friend to me than most of my normal friends". "Keep talking Kelly, You're getting in deeper!" We both laughed ourselves silly. She got serious again and said "but you know what I mean, right". I told her I knew exactly what she meant and her friendship is special to me too.
We had without a doubt the most awful dinner in years but I can't remember a better time. We're going to do it twice a month even if we only go for a drive.
