Happy Memorial Day Everyone

I haven't blogged or posted as I have had my daughter here visiting from Michigan. I love to have her here and relish every minute. She comes here now at least 4 times a year because she knows it is easier for her to fly out, but more expense on her. Her friends, extended family, brother and Larry and I all want to spend time with her. We had a cookout Saturday here. I had planned to go to a nice park nearby but with temps in the high 90's, we stayed here and grilled. Larry's son is good on the grill. Larry use to burn things and his son reminds me of that all the time. lol We enjoyed our 5 yr. old granddaughter, Rachel, who did a little dance for us.

My daughter bought and planted some shrubs and flowers for me in the front of our house. She insisted on doing all the digging, etc. but commented on how hard the ground was. We have clay soil here and haven't had much rain lately. I really appreciated her efforts as it is getting hard for me to do too much digging, etc. We went out for her birthday as she will be going to England in a couple weeks with her boyfriend to visit with his parents. His parents are treating them all to a visit to Wales where they go frequently. She showed me photos of the area and it is really beautiful. Wish I could go too!

Larry has been taking it easy and I haven't pushed. He enjoys the company but I think it wears him out also. He has been staying in and watching baseball. It has been too hot to get him out. I noticed when everyone was here for the cookout, he ate things I couldn't get him to eat - like brownies, french fries, shrimp, etc. He wouldn't touch the stuff before. When we went out to eat though, he just couldn't decide and ended up with pepperoni pizza. So many other things he could have eaten easier! (SIGH)!

Nothing too exciting otherwise here. I hope we get some much needed rain and the temperatures cool down a little. Hope you all had a good weekend.

dan has always had eating issues post stroke - now he does better when we agree to "share" when we eat out. and most places have giant portions, so we still have plenty.and i also have noticed dan will eat differently around different people.. which is good. nancyl

Julie: was so waiting to hear of your weekend. Know you were all looking forward to your daughter's visit. She is a blessing to all of you and how nice that she did some landscaping. I do so love working in the yard. In the first few years post stroke was able to do it as I had caregivers in twice daily, not now. Just keep the water to it!

Maybe the food issue is just the diversion of having family in. Larry has to make fewer decisions and knows it is not about him when family is visiting. I grilled all weekend. I have 22 meals put aside for the next week or so and reminded Leo that I expect it to last the next week or so - lol.

Great times. Our weather has been horrid as well, early morning get outs and then hunker down with AC in the afternoon. But you had a wonderful time as you knew you would! Thank you for sharing. Debbie

I am so glad to hear that you had a wonderful visit. What a wonderful daughter you have.

Yes, Larry is playing with you. He likes to eat different things. How amazing is that?
