A trip to the zoo
Well my daughter came in town over the weekend and Larry and I are always happy to see her. She brings a ray of sunshine into our lives. She comes in town about 4 times a year and is a good indication of telling us how Larry is recovering. She applaudes everything he can do for himself and that makes him feel good.
We decided to go to the zoo since the weather was cool, cloudy and no rain. We went Sunday and there were thousands of people there. We have one of the best zoos in the country and it is free - thus the crowds and especially on a nice day in the 70's. My daughter and I pushed Larry in his transport chair and got quite a workout. The transport chairs work well on level grounds but there were a lot of hills. At one point we were up a steep hill and realized we needed to go back down to the place we wanted to go. I had to hold the chair walking backwards while my daugher pushed very slowly from behind. We made it without any terrible mishaps! We wanted to see the new Sea Lion Sound where you can watch the sea lions swim over you under water and around in a glass enclosed area. The line was long but Larry said he wanted to go so we did. We all enjoyed it. I wanted to see the new baby kangaroo but it was too far to walk. We were at the zoo for about 2 hours and Mr. Larry was getting tired. Anyway, we made it and without any problems.
We are getting cooler temps and a little more rain now. The pumpkin patches are thriving as they like the dry weather and the draught didn't affect them. I'm not sure the fall colors will be good as we had such a dry hot summer and not much moisture last winter.
Hope you all have a good week and a happy autumn.
Julie
