Thank you guys so much for all of your encouraging comments on my last entry. I don't know what I would do without this site. You guys always know exactly what to say. I just wanted to update you guys really quick. The day after my disappointment, I found a doctor here, they wrote me a prescription for the baclofen, and Im waiting for them to schedule OT for me. I get my supra scalpular injection in my shoulder on Monday and I have been taking my old dosage of baclofen so hopefully that will help loosen me back up since I don't know anyone here that does botox. I did not want to have to go through all this but its worth a try I guess.

I have not been following my program like I should. Its so painful getting the bioness on, it's painful for my fingers to be cramped up that long, and its painful trying to get it off only using my good hand. I want to cry everytime Im putting it on and taking it off. Add the fact that I am freezing cold cant move, and dont do stretches before I put it on. It just seems pointless and Im not motivated too much. Im supposed to do it twice a day but lately I have only been doing it once. I know it is not a magic pill but with all the effort Im going through right now, I expect to see more results I guess

try to get a OT person with bioness experience or at least intrest in learning--- which hand is yours for ?? looks like your left correct ?? i might have a buyer for a left hand one ?? but honey you should stick with it and get a person OT with experience to aid you in this rehab -- it has been a long time since you have had movement and although the exersize on your hand is good it hurts -- really good the rep. set it on low-- do keep it up , and with that said i am gonna work harder with dan on his program it has been the area i to am lax on.. come on sweety you got more spunk in you!! I know you do!! so do I.......nancyl

another thought---- how about using your kitchen sink and give your affected arm a warm bath before trying the bioness ?? just a thought- adds to all the drama and work of it all - i know..just a thought...nancyl

Katrina,

You got to, you got to change your attitude about not doing what you should and definitely need to do in trying to get your body working better for you!! It can't and it will not get better by itself or on it's own!! You got to want to WORK at getting your body parts working by using them daily!!

Your left side cannot get better by just hanging there on your side, you got to work, exercise that arm daily, hourly if you can!!! That's what many of us did to get our arm, leg and hand useful in a small way!!

It's paralysed and will not exercise on it's own with no brain attached to control that part of your body!!! Take your cane and exercise with it using your weak arm and hand for it to get better!

You say I quote! "It just seem pointless and I'm not motivated too much" "I'm suppose to do it twice a day but lately I have only been doing it once a day!"

You got to do what it says to do and if you don't you can't expect to get better at all!!1 I'm lazy but I do all I MUST do to make me feel better and get better and in the end more independent!!!

You got to hear the truth and that's what I'm telling you, that's all!!! So Katrina please try a little harder to get your body working better for your sake, OK? When you start OT it will seem hard but it is needed cause you done without it for so, so long!!! I'm wishing you the very best in your recovery!!!

Katrina, don't lose hope. It is frustrating, I know because I have the same stubborn spasticity. I get Botox injections, and yes they are painful. I also take oral Baclofen which makes me tired all the time. I appreciate your blog entries, because I can relate to you. We are here for you and know you can do it. Keep strong and focused. Best to you,

Beth

I read a your other blogs about getting the bioness and your disappointment when it came, but was unable to write at that time. I also wasn't sure of your history, because I've only been here since spring. If the time you tried one on, and it was so good, was a completely different situation in which you were working your hand, then you stopped doing anything and let it go, then it hasn't lost it's effectiveness. You have to get back to where you were when it worked, and it will work like you dreamed it would. I know it is hard, I see my husband struggling with his efforts and it is so sloooowwww, but the funny thing is, if you stop, the loss is FAST! Don't let lost time stand in the way of your dreams, because you are the one who is the dream maker, it comes from you. Cheering you on, gal!
