Hello everyone, it is good to be back. My Parents were over with me, to enjoy seeing my so graducated. We had six weeks of sun, and fun. So they left, and my sister called saying Dad was acting "strange". He was fine over here, even Mom enjoyed herself. Then she called and said i needed to come, so moving very fast, wnt to doctor got a letter that said I could travel, was on a plane to London. Did not know what was waiting fot me. Dad was out of hosptial, but looked tired and very confushed. my sister who lived with my Parents, was looking worryed and in pain, she was due to go and get her knee worked on! Poor mom was sliding down further to the pit of her memong of her mind which was not a lot there. I got there Thursday, it was Sunday, and my sister was taking dad upstairs to watch some TV, lots os stairs in the house which is four stories. he was behind going up with his cane no rails to hold on and he fall! God was so good, he had no broken bones and he was aware of what happen. We still called for help and they came very fast.My sister went with him while I waited for mom, who still can walk to church, she could not get it that Dad haded fallen, so I got a friend friend over, and got over to the hosptial. My Dad was okay, but the doctor asked me what he could do for us, I knew then that I needed to set up and get things moving for dad. I took the doctor that we needed help that my Parents worked all their life putting into National Health, taking nothing out of it but now their neded help. He agreeded also saying that Dad did not need to be in hosptial.

So they have a team with district nurses, doctors, soical workers, therapy, The doctor put dad name for this team. The next day docotrs, nurses, soical workers were there. They order stair rails, two firm chairs, rail for his shower and a seat inside it. Also got a carer for him. give him breakfast and a shower and medcine. She was wonderful. This team was there for six weeks, then get a review and see if he would get the help for the rest of his life. He did. Now I was doing the early shift, and my other sister the late shift and my brother came during the day. We laughted a lot and was aware of needing to get out of the house and getting fresh air. My dad is doing great, no more plane rides for him, it seemed he had mini strokes, plus a urine infection. It is my Mom that I want to talk about.

Mom has Alzheimers. I was the one who noticed about four years ago she was not right. Not only was she asking the same question over and over, but she was wearing the same clothes. not wanting to go out, call her friends, not calling her two sisters who lived in Florida, and send me three christmas cards but none to anyone else. When i went over four years ago got her to the doctor what a fight, and the doctor said that she told Mom that she needed to go to a memory clinic , of course mom said no!. She was a nurse, and still in her mind she is still a nurse and know more than anyone else. Plus I had to give mom the "stink eye" for her to agree to go to the clinic. The laws need changing.

So, it is who is this lady? My Mother who taught me about Christ, the bible. how to act like a lady. She knew and said words that I wonder were she learned then. I am worried cause the way she lose it and from 1-60, swearing, shouting, throwing things. Wow, She got so mad at me because we could not let her get hold of her medcine, she would hide then. So nurses came and gave them, but they were short staff, and my sister who had her opration on her knee and was home. and I was there, said we have to give it to her for a few weeks. Mom went craz`y, she swore at me and then threw the book at me, me acting really quick I was please with myself, moved like the Mantix and got out of the way. We laughted later, but I really wanted to cry. I cried when my Mom would not come with me shopping, she tells us all the time that we just want her money! I know it is not her, but this sickness is taking over, and there is no cure and the med do not help. I am worried that Moms blood pressure is going to hit so high that she suffer a stroke.

I took her to a candle light carol singing in a wonderful church. Mom did not enjoy, she worryed about, did she trun off everything in the house, who was going to cook, how was we getting home. It was a wonderful affair, but Mom is tighly wround. Her older sister died in America, and she wanted to come with my brother, she went and the house was so peacefully and at peace. My dad was so relaxed, and we ate out, laughted a lot. Sad thing to say. I love her so much, go to kiss her and she push you away. Yet , i followed her to the market that is the other place she goes, and she held my arm to cross the road i wanted to cry!

Just wanted to get it off my chest, I am blessed that my Parents are still here, I enjoyed Christmas and New year. Have a great husband who encouarge me to go he has lost his both parents. My new word for this year is Hope. That we make new headways with Alzheimers. I know Mom is going to get worse, hope that I be strong for my sisters and brothers.

Happy New Year everyone God bless

I see your deep pain in your words. You and siblings now called upon to take care of your parents. Not easy. Try to remember Mom like she really was before disease,as you do, But never expect that woman is gone when you see present behavior. You can get support online and in person. Take care of yourself too. You know that.Very heartbreaking to see your mom Changed. You are still so loved by her and Dad too. Ask for help if you need it.

Take care,

Pam
