Check Up

huh.gif Well I got my Insurance and went for my "check up" yesterday.. I get one free check up so he definately made it thorough..

I am now scheduled to meet the Dr. for a colonscopy 11/14. I am scheduled for a bone density test and a mammogram. He did a Pap test and blood work.

My blood pressure was 122/78. So I am doing well on the BP medication & an aspirin daily. I asked him about chances of another stroke and he said with BP and an aspirin daily will cut chances of another by 50%..

Am not looking forward to cholesterol test results.. have had problems with cholesterol medication...so will have to wait and see on that one...

so I guess I'm in pretty good shape for the shape I'm in..LOL

hey bonnie:

that's very good that everything is normal, and don't worry about another stroke, we can not change our destiny so why worry

Thanks, Asha, and I actually don't worry about it, just wanted to see what the doctor would say, since they don't know why I had the first one, except for the fact that i was under an extremly high level of stress at that point.

Bonnie, I would be interested in knowing how your cholesterol test comes out. I'm in the very same boat.

That zocor made me weak in both legs and arm, the doc said it couldn't be the meds. Went in to hospital overnight for brain test, all negative. So I stopped the zocor and now doing garlique. The weakness has eased up.

I'm waiting to see the doc about the blood work tests. My cholesterol was down before then. At 19 months out, I couldn't see me getting weaker all of a sudden and in rehab too and the MRI and c scans all negative. I feel it was the zocor and zetia. I shall see.

Thanks Fred and Kristen, the doctors have tried me on two cholesterol medications, Liptior which I had very bad side effects after 3 days, extreme leg cramps, weakness, vision problems. Zocor I did okay on low dose but as soon as they tried to increase it, side effects. I tried the prescription Niacin and after they increased the dose I wanted to take my skin off...

The colonoscopy, I tried VERY HARD to talk him out of...told him there was an "exit only sign there" and everything worked quite properly, but he just smiled and made the apt for the consult..to meet the Dr who will then schedule the colonscopy so I still have a stab at trying to get out of it... he said everyone over 50 should have one...

well, still mulling this one over. ..

Bonnie, I had a colonoscopy about 3 years ago and it wasn't that bad! I found the worst for me was the stuff I had to drink the night before to "clean me out" I had to drink litres of this awful tasting stuff and couldn't finish the prescribed amount I had to drink but the actual procedure wasn't that bad. Good luck.
