One of our past prime ministers said: "Life wasn't meant to be easy." I think he meant life is supposed to be a challenge but his quote, from a man worth millions has been used by cynical journalists ever since.

I just had my Mum home for the three hours I can manage while Ray is at Daycare. I managed to get her in and out of the van with minimal fuss today, although she did cling to the seat belt in the hope that I wouldn't be able to get her out when I drew up in front of the Lodge.

Today she had a few words to say: "I love you.", "Please stay." and "Get Pat." Pat was my Dad who died in 2000 and she hasn't mentioned his name for maybe twelve months. Having her here is so bitter-sweet sometimes. I do love her so much and it no longer matters that she is so mentally handicapped. She is my dear little old Mum. And I love her deeply.

I am not looking forward to Ray's dementia progressing as I know I will go through some of the things with him I went through with Mum. I disagree with the PM, life was meant to be easier than this.
