Tori story

I had my little grand daughter this afternoon as I do every Thursday. She was in a strange mood, a bit out of sorts and then the new physiotherapist came to assess Ray. She was a small woman of Scottish ancestry and had a booming voice and as she bossed Tori's beloved Pa around Tori got scared so she hid in our bed and had a twenty minute or so cat nap.

She surfaced again with her usual aplomb in place and jumped on the trampoline and did various activities.

The kids two blocks over skid down their driveway on toy trucks, using their feet as brakes. We have a small tricycle and she wanted to know if she could go down our driveway "on my feet". I said she could. She had the basket on the back loaded with the bits and pieces she carries in it as usual.

The first short run she made very gingerly, then a second run a bit further down near the steep part of the driveway so going a little faster. Then I stood at the bottom and she came towards me. This time the feet went up off the ground and her pace increased. To prevent her hitting the gravel I yelled:"Turn your wheels" and she did and slewed to her right.

As she fell a puddle of water appeared around her.

"Tori." I said."Did you wet your pants?"

"No ". She said sorrowfully." My pants wet me."

She was right, a small bucket with a little water in it out of thebasket in the back had tumbled over the top of her spilling it's contents down her back.

I had a real good laugh. When life is grim kids can really lighten the moment.
