Countdown to the big day!

THREE MORE WEEKS!

Had a lovely time this afternoon. There was an article in the paper that the Lutheran church not to far from here was having a Christmas program of Christmas songs. The public was invited and it was a lovely program. Except for some songs, many were German songs which aren't commonly sung. There also told the story of Christmas and brought in the Holy infant. From where I was sitting (and forgetting my glasses) it looked like a doll because there wasn't a sound from this "child". It was a real baby! Quite young. After they served refreshments - wonderful baked cookies and yes many were German favorites, and I had spiced warm cider which I first learned about when doing a demo a few weeks ago.

This coming week I get to go to my Walmart's and try to straighten out the display with all of the names. I should be numbling to myself when Wednesday comes around.

But first, tomorrow is the Orchid Society Christmas Party and all who attend get a small orchid plant. It's held in the former winter home of John D. Rockefeller, which is kept as it was in the private quarters and is used for local art, cooking. photography classes, meetings etc. It is supposed to have been extensively decorsted for the holiday season.

I can almost hear the slowbells from practice runs in the Northpole (well, you can't expect to make the reindeer make that trip without warming up, can you? )biggrin2.gif

bouncesmile.gif ....and it was 7 this AM on our front porch! Thats degrees- not time!

Phyllis, do you recall what you were doing 64 years ago tomorrow? I will never forget that day, nor how it changed all our lives. Pres. Roosevelt's voice rings in my memory; not his whole speech, but the "days of infamy" part. Funny how certain events are burned into your memory like it happened yesterday.

So many things we did for the war effort- and did it gladly. Now these cry babies do everything possible to tear down our country & demoralize our troops. We need to get the American eagle back as our mascot.

I remember what I was doing; cutting out paper dolls and asking my Dad , "Whats a war?"

Right now I have to get over to Wally-World & mess up some shelves & displays!

Ha Ha! Yes Marilyn, I was sick in bed - think it was the 8th when he declared war though; the attack was the 7th, We "knew" ina roundabout way, a kid who went down on the Arizona.

How were you messing Wally World? Buying? I was there, didn't see you LOL. I was straightening my Stravina display. They are the decorations and magnets and wrapping paper with kids names. I do 4 and this is a service week.

Finally got my yearly can of popcorn with a doggie picture. They only had the ones with puzzle tops but now have the 4.50 cans. When the popcorn is gone, I use the can for all sort of things.

Yeh, those cans are around the house forever once the popcorn is gone.

I'm sure you're right about the dates. It was all sort of a blur, but it waas an event one never forgets. Admiral Nimitz' museum in Fredericksburg, TX is one of the best, its in Grandfather Nimitx old hotel., & on display is a hatch door from the USS Arizona & other memorabelia.

I just came back from tarranging stock at Wally World..things are hard to reach from a wheelchair but for the most part people are pleasant & offer to help reach for things.

Some unauthorized character from Idaho parked in a handicapped space & a customer on her way into the store told the guy to move - there was a $100 fine, of course he had a snippy response. that led my husband to take dowqn the info call the mgr etc etc etc.....

Tis the season to be jolly,

Fa la la la la la la la la.....

Your poem is so cute, by the way !

Cheers,
