New to this.

Would have started sooner, but I don't get much time work on these things. But here goes.

A little history: On 1 nov 03, my wife Sam, had a brainstem stroke, and wasn't expected to make it through the night. She was very lucky that my son was in the room when she began to get dizzy. He called 911 immediately, and saved her life. I was in Tokyo at the time, and it took about a day and a half to get home.

Two weeks ICU, 2 months advanced care, and another 3 in in-patient rehab, before she came home. Truly a miracle, and we thank God that she beat all the Dr's best guesses for recovery.

It's been close to 2 1/2 years now, and with therapy, lot's of work, and her great attitude, she is now able to pull herself up to a standing position with a walker or a grabrail. Right side is still weak, but improving. Speech is coming along, and folks are telling me that they understand most of what she is saying.

We've been married 21 years, have 3 kids. Air Force dropped us off in Oklahoma, and we've lived here for around 12. I'm originally from Western NY, Sam's from Thailand. Both of us hate snow. We do alot of fishing, and she loves her garden. (which means I also "love to garden"). I'm a freight pilot now, and it makes for some interesting moments when I'm on the road. I'm writing this from Ohio, going to Rome on saturday to pick up a trip to Djibouti (east of Ethiopia), then back to OK.

That's enough for now. Gotta see how these thing work!

Oops, forgot to put my name in there. It's Steve. Sam is actually "short" for Somkuan. That's the only way most folks can remember it.

Most of the time we travel, we usually have a day or 2 to get around. Ireland, England, and Germany are my favorites. I really want to do Scotland, but I never got one of those trips. Singapore's not bad, just a tad crowded though. Leave tomorrow (fri) for Italy to do an African trip and will be back home monday evening. Sicily is a beautiful place, and we found a great little Italian restaurant there the last time we went.

Oh wow does Sam get to travel with you? Glad she is making good progress. Sometimes it is slow and barely noticible... but anything forward is progress..

Welcome aboard
