What DO you say?
I have such a day at work ahead of me - I'm on deadline with a ton of projects and I'm still interviewing potential assistants. But - this blog isn't about work, it's about people and WHAT are they thinking?
So, yesterday a woman came in for an interview. Her resume looked ok - but, a lot of the jobs she had were at call centers. Now, I realize being a telemarketer has to be almost as fun as repeatedly bopping yourself on the head. And I'm sure you do little things un consciencely when you sit in a cubicle all day.
However, in the interview she removed her shoes? Ok, I'm not talking about sliding your feet out of a pair of sandals underneath the table here ... she took off her shoes and placed them next to her chair?!
Am I wrong, or is that something you just don't do in an interview?
We wrapped up the interview really quickly, ignoring the fact that she was now barefoot....I mean really, what Do you say?
*"Excuse me, but you must feel right at home because you've taken off your shoes"? -
*"Love the shoes but, please put them back on"? -
*"Please don't take off your clothes?"
What was she thinking? And what would you say? :uhm:
Seriously, I don't even remember the woman's name 8 hours later but, she made quite an impression on me by taking off her shoes.
