The phone call came Thursday evening and my cell phone was on silent. When I checked the phone before going to bed I discovered three missed messages. That's really unusual since we'd just seen many of our friends earlier in the evening - these calls were from Arizona son, Marc. Mom, call me when you get this message - hope nothing is wrong....Of course, Mom called right away!

Marc is a construction manager for a large company headquartered in Phoenix. His company is one of the sub-contractors for a new shopping center project right here in Greensboro. A problem with their portion of the project served as the basis for a surprise week-end visit! It was so great to have him with us. I fixed a "Mom" dinner of spaghetti for dinner Friday evening and chicken, corn on the cob, garlic mashed redskins and homemade fresh peach cobbler last night. We talked and talked. Bill sat and watched us - he was amazed at the way Marc talks (alot) and our interaction. He just couldn't follow alot of it. Of course there was much discussion of people Bill had never met from Marc's childhood.

And so, I was the lucky recipient of one of life's little surprises this week-end. It's such fun to hear about Brady and Tristan - and to remember how Marc and Matt were when they were the little boy's ages! It also made me yearn for such a week-end with Matt - but maybe that will come later. For now I'm just happy Marc could come for a couple of days.
