Last Christmas when Trey wondered about coming "home" for Christmas I told him I thought it important that he do so since with his dad's health in such an unstable condition it may well be his last with him. Bill had been in the hospital and was not doing well at all.

Trey came in yesterday evening to spend the holidays with us. He found his dad in very good spirits and probably as good health as he's experienced in years. Yes, he still has all of those deficiencies he's had since his strokes - and then some I suppose you could say. But, we have so very much to be thankful for, those little irritants don't seem so horrible.

Today Trey and Bill have gone shopping. Bill said last evening he needed to go do some shopping - without me thank you very much - and he wanted Trey to take him. Today when he got up he went in and shaved, came to the living room and told Trey to get moving because they were going shopping. That is a very big miracle.

Tomorrow we will go to Mom's to celebrate with the family. It will truly be fun. Last Christmas was real quiet for a couple of reasons, but this year we can look forward to a festive day with lots of good fun and food!

I'm feeling so blessed. I cherish everyday and am amazed by the resolve Bill makes to make the best of each day. He is an inspiration to me. Every survivor is an inspiration to me since every inch of progress made in recovery is so strenuously worked for.

I don't know what next year will bring - but it just doesn't matter because today is a good day. None of us are promised tomorrow, and yesterday is past.
