Recipe for Salt Substitute
Since most of us are on a No-Salt or a Low-Sodium diet, here is what I use instead of salt.
Salt Substitute
3 Bay leaves, broken into pieces
3 teaspoons dried minced onions
2 teaspoons dried rosemary, crushed
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dried marjoram
1 teaspoon rubbed sage
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon lemon-pepper seasoning
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
Place all ingredients in a small food processor; cover and process until finely ground. Place in a salt shaker; use in place of salt.
A coffee grinder or spice grinder works for this too.
Makes about 8 teaspoons.
