Shopping

I hate shopping. I was never abig fan prestroke and its worse now. Shopping for clothes takes forever with trying on. I hate it. Shopping for groceries is hard, especially now with large surface stores. I get back home and I'm ready for bed but I have to put them away, then start supper. I rarely plan anything else on shopping day. I used to go where they have carts for the handicapped. I don't use those anymore because I can manage even if I do come back exausted. I figure that I should leave the carts for people who really need it.I am blessed that I can do that, .

Good for you Marie that you can personally attack the grocery store. I've not yet been able to do that. My teen daughter is the shopper for the actual walk to the store for things. We do supplement (which makes it easier for her) by using Schwan's - http://www.schwans.com/

Here, I can shop on-line and the food is delivered to our door.

Do you live in an area that offers online grocery shopping? I used it one time before I could drive and was home alone for three weeks. They delivered. It was great. Not very expensive and easy. Also, the word is that when you shop online you are less likely to do impulse buying.

I also order clothes online. But, there are manufacturers who sizes I trust. And, of course, any item which you are not sure where to find it is a whole lot easier to find online.

Since I moved out of my mom's less than a year after my stroke, I always did my shopping and cooking for me and my kids. Like I mentionned before, sometimes it was exausting (most of the time) but I loved doing it so I went to Loblaws or Walmart so I could do it with a cart. The cooking part , well, when I was cooking for someone else, I didn't have any problems but when I was supposed to cook for myself, I just had cereal or toast or went out to eat. Even before my stroke I was like that, I hated cooking for myself.

The first year after my stroke, I lived with my parents, then when I went to live on my own, it wouldn't have occured to me to do this online or have someone else do it. first it was an outing for me even if it was an exausting one. Also shopping for groceries gave me ideas for what to eat which doing online would not do it for me. Since the beginning I've wanted to do things the "normal" way versus the "handicapped" way. I have always wanted to prove to my family and to myself that I could manage on my own, so I did. You are right about impulse buying, I did a lot of that. lol
