Lin's Brainstem Stroke

I had a brainstem bleed March 6, 1997. I was 46 and in good health. I had been to the doctor 6 weeks earlier I was told I had no health problems. We know I had been lying on the bathroom floor at least 10 hours before I was found. I got sick to my stomach a few hours before I became unconscious, but it was very fast with no warning.

 

I was taken to the hospital by ambulance and my family was told I would probably not survive. They were asked about organ donation. I was unconscious so oblivious to all of this drama. In six days my insurance company had me moved to another hospital, where they had a contract. It actually was a good deal, because it was a larger hospital. I was in ICU for two weeks. After two weeks the doctors decided as was no longer unconscious (blink once for yes, twice for no). I was taken to a regular room.
