    quiet day

I would like to add my good wishes as well. Happy Birthday Sue, I hope you have a good year. I wish health and happiness to both you and Ray Happy Birthday XxX ((((((((Hugs)))))))) Mary
  7. Kirsten He reminds me life is just life, no need for self-pity. He shows me I can handle whatever comes my way, even when I think I can take no more. I will get through it, and this time will be a memory before I know it- for better or worse. He tells me you can never go back- and he couldn't be more right. The past is the past. Enjoy today instead. Thank you so much for this. I have been feeling down these past few days, this is just the advice I needed. I think i will print it out and put it on the wall. I wish I had a friend like Tom. Mary

    Summary of life

I hope this brings a smile to some ones face: Summary of Life GREAT TRUTHS THAT LITTLE CHILDREN HAVE LEARNED: 1) No matter how hard you try, you can't baptise cats. 2) When your Mum is mad at your Dad, don't let her brush your hair. 3) If your sister hits you, don't hit her back. They always catch the second person. 4) Never ask your 3-year old brother to hold a tomato. 5) You can't trust dogs to watch your food. 6) Don't sneeze when someone is cutting your hair. 7) Never hold a Dust-Buster and a cat at the same time. 8) You can't hide a piece of broccoli in a glass of milk. 9) Don't wear polka-dot underwear under white shorts. 10) The best place to be when you're sad is Grandpa's lap. GREAT TRUTHS THAT ADULTS HAVE LEARNED: 1) Raising teenagers is like nailing jelly to a tree. 2) Wrinkles don't hurt. 3) Families are like fudge...mostly sweet, with a few nuts. 4) Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground. 5) Laughing is good exercise. It's like jogging on the inside. 6) Middle age is when you choose your cereal for the fibre, not the toy. GREAT TRUTHS ABOUT GROWING OLD 1) Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional. 2) Forget the health food. I need all the preservatives I can get. 3) When you fall down, you wonder what else you can do while you're down there. 4) You're getting old when you get the same sensation from a rocking chair that you once got from a roller coaster. 5) It's frustrating when you know all the answers but nobody bothers to ask you the questions. 6) Time may be a great healer, but it's a lousy beautician. 7) Wisdom comes with age, but sometimes age comes alone. THE FOUR STAGES OF LIFE: 1) You believe in Santa Claus. 2) You don't believe in Santa Claus. 3) You are Santa Claus. 4) You look like Santa Claus. SUCCESS: At age 4 success is . . . Not piddling in your pants. At age 12 success is . . . Having friends. At age 17 success is . . Having a drivers licence. At age 35 success is . . . Having money. At age 50 success is Having money. At age 70 success is . . . Having a drivers licence. At age 75 success is . . . Having friends. At age 80 success is . . . Not piddling in your pants. Pass this on to someone who could use a laugh. Always remember to forget the troubles that pass your way; BUT NEVERforget the blessings that come each day. Have a wonderful day with many *smiles* Take the time to live!!! Life is too short. Rush Limbaugh

Nothing reall very much to talk about. I think I am too tired to remember is part of the problem. :Neeeedsleeep: Can any one tell me more about Rush Limbaugh? He was on the radio on monday talking about about his going deaf and subsequent cochlea implant. He had quite strong views about disabilities and stem cell research amonst other things. I guess he is a Bush supporter. You can listen to the programme again by following the link; http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/notriumphnotragedy/ Interestingly the presenter, Peter White, is blind. For a little "light" relief and to get the brain cells woking have a go at this: http://www.spotthedifference.com/default.asp I find the photos the hardest. Do try different levels. I wish you luck. I must go to bed, might try and raed a bit of "Off the coat of Maine". I received my copy today. Take care mary

  12. Well I have just realised I havent told you all about the party. It went very well. I think and hope D enjoyed it. However the tidying up afterwards was really difficult. It took so long. We should have had more help. The group we hired the hall from accussed us of not leaving the place clean and tidy and there was some damage. To cut a long story short they kept our
  13. Sue, I loved the description of your week, you sound content...I hope you are. Oh I realise you would probably want things to be differnt but you are a prime example of making the best out of what you have.( Very topical for me at the moment..can you give me some tips ) try not to worry about whats going to happen when Ray comes home, cross that bridge when you get there. it may all stay the same. If not I am sure you will both cope with a few changes, you have done it before, so you can do it again. I am glad Ray is making steady progress. :Clap-Hands: :Clap-Hands: Mary
  14. Diane, I was listening to the Jeremy Vine show the other day and they talking about the NHS. Someone on his show was saying if the NHS stopped treating ailments like varicose veins ( which is not a life threating condition) they would be enough cash for all stroke patients to get physio. I know the statements needs a lot of qualification, but I wonder if that is the way the nhs is going to go? Thats why they took dentistry out of the NHS. Food for thought Good luck with your continued improvement....with or without the NHS Mary
  15. Sue, Happy Australia day. A coollegue was trying to get us all to go down to the beach for a "barbie"....he said that is what he would do if he was at home in Brisbane. We pointed out that it was raining and only 6 oC, in Brisbane it would have been 26 oC and sunny! I am glad Ray is doing better. Dont rush to get him home even tho you want him home. Make sure you can both cope properly. All the best :Neeeedsleeep: Mary PS Dont mention the cricket
