Social Security Disability Approved

Got phone call today from social security office, and his soc sec disab. has been approved - no soc sec doc to visit, no court to go to, will kick in in about a month! Notwithstanding, it's not EXTRA money, except for those who have no work disability. If you do have it, then the money from work, will reduce by the amount SS gives you. But if you don't apply for it, they will estimate how much SS would pay and doc you for it - so it has to be done! This is the first thing I had to do abou

Finally, drought is over!

NOW FOR SOME GOOD NEWS! Today's work: kinda laid back today, with the company and then I felt tired from getting ready for them, and didn't feel like doing any therapies till late afternoon, around 5, so we :   1. did the driveway practice walking, stopping at the 2nd car in the drive (rolled down windows on this side) and he walked backward, side stepped in both directions, knee bends, lifted heel backward (like up toward butt) and 2 toe stands (kinda).   2. Aphasia - thoughts still get thru

So, when my husband had his stroke in Feb, our son came home for a month. Bob reverted to calling me Mom, like we called each other (Mom / Dad) when son was home. Then he calls me Mommy (sometimes Daddy!) because of our pets. We called by name or the Mom/Dad if we are talking to the pets about something (like go sit with Daddy). So last night, after he went to bed and I was on the computer, just around the door frame from the bedroom, he calls to me "Mommy" I go in and ask what, and he says

E-STEM DEVICE

Well, I did it. I hope I bought a good one, and didn't get conned by fancy talk. I know the e-stem (electrical stimulation of muscles) worked great on his leg in rehab, but they ignored his arm. I just bought one and hope and pray it will bring his arm to life. It also is a tens machine, which apparently means, when on the tens setting it interrupts pain signals and therefore helps pain.   http://www.lgmedsupply.com/l8eltemustco.html

Finds at Walmart

Tonight I had to make a run to Walmart. Bob actually requested Poptarts and finally got it across that he wanted more of those banana muffins I had found on discount. Probably just makes us fat, but we don't eat them all day, and it really perked him up. We usually eat something like that when he gets up in the middle of the night. Then we don't have to worry about breakfast when the meals on wheels come so very early, around 10:45am with lunch! Also saw a box of Whoppers as I was leavin

Yesterday I did what others have prompted me to do - took care of myself. Time to put away the Cinderella attitude. When my husband was in the rehab and after he first got home, I always tried to look my best, look like me. I wanted to make him feel better when he saw me, and I wanted others to know I was happy my husband was home and I COULD do it! Somewhere along the line, I quit looking after me. I think it came about because once I was the one doing all his grooming and dressing, my
