well we made it the entire time in NY-- seizure free ( except for one night - dan might have had a small one) but dan had a grand mal seizure yesterday at 10 am.... I had gotten up at 4 am vomiting YUCK--- then the "runs" started,- more YUCK... my 16 yr old stayed home THANK GOD from school to help out- of course i blame her for the bug in the first place. LOL but i got both vomiting and the "runs" at the same time - decide to do a quick shower.... before the routine starts all over again... i get out of the shower am trying to sneak to my bathroom from hers...... barely making it- the cycle was starting all over again.. and Beth heard her dad start a seizure --- i come in right after her but cant stay i have to use the bathroom... so i am hollering instructions to her from the toilet... raise the bed a little, (to avoid aspiration)-- get the tank, i finish as quick as i can , wash my hands, and help my daughter get the oxy tank going... good, he is breathing and getting oxygen.. he comes out of the seizure..enough that i can go back to the bathroom and repeat that vicious cycle.. Bethy my beloved 16 yr old is sitting with her dad, i am on the toilet with activity from both ends LOL--- and then i shower again and don one of my husbands "attends" -- I went through 8 of them yesterday LOL... every movement caused something to start up.... but i feel better today..and am only this graphic not only cause it was funny ( gotta get the humor when and where you can) but to share with others how bad it can be-- so when it happens to them - they know- hey , this happened to someone else...... Now i am praying and I mean praying, Dan, who did have a little blow out the night before i got sick - has mabey had a small version of the bug ( set off the seizure) and will escape the visciousness of the bug.... dan missed therapy all the days he could have went last week after our return from our trip - was jetlagged on weds. and yesterday -- ummm nope... hopefull we are front and center and healthy on Monday....

Nancy,

I was awaiting your blog and so glad you and Dan had a marvelous time and got to see first hand the remnants of Sandy's destruction!!! Now for the bugs, and whatever else the two of you contacted I say a quick prayer, "Lord let it ALL come out"! Now hope you feel a bit better before Monday and if not try some of those home remedies your mom used to give you for just about anything you ever had wrong with you!!!

I hope you get front and center TODAY and feel a bit better or you can't enjoy the football games tomorrow and Monday night!!! See ya then!!

You are fortunate that you daughter was there to help you out.

What an ordeal. The things we make it thru are amazing.

Oh.My.Goodness! I'll pray with you that Dan misses the worst of the bug. He's already had enough with the seizure. So sorry the seizures keep coming. I have been really sick twice since Lauren had his stroke. Thankfully, both times I had family around when it started and I called in emergency private duty to help through the night. I can never figure out which is worse, Lauren having the bug or me having it and needing to take care of him. Now you've gone and shown me an option I had not considered! :)

Just lay low as much as possible until you get your strength back. That stuff zaps your energy big time.

I feel better and i think dan is "skirting" the bug.. my little genius daughter said dad only has a one third chance of getting it as bad as you and wade..she has kept track of the "family bug" and the stats and outcomes ( pun intended) -- and yep my worst case scenerio played out and i can see we would have survived it even with no daughter.. would have had to get rid of the carpet though ...HAHA.... face book pass on to me was something like----- only you are strong enough to live the life you have been given--- hope so........nancyl

ok so update -- i still have to use the bath room a lot so i can not venture out----- dan seems ok still.... oh lord please..... i feel ok just getting very tired everything is shooting through me still.... but i know i can take imodiam (sp) and stop it but - i am a believer in letting the bug run out after all the body usually knows what to do about its own problems.. but tomorrow if this continues i will take some... i am so sick of jello, crackers and toast..lol

finally feeling better.... but here is a intresting observation.. as you know i wore attends for a couple days - no choice there-- but now i am sorta chaffed - nothing to bad and i will be fine.. but it is a insight to how our loved ones may feel.. i actually invest in the new attends that came out that is by far softer than other brands ( i think) and they are spendy... but i had to ask my self - how comfortable is this?.. dan can and does stay dry most days ( never at night) and activly chooses to wear the attends vs underwear as he is so worried about a accident-- of course no solution just another stroke observation... blog it so i dont forget it i guess. nancyl
