Caregiver Humor!!!!

The caregiver that I hired to stay with my mother in the nursing home in the morning is on bad terms with the nursing home staff. They called her into the office and had a chat with her. She's great with my mom and is a good advocate for her, but she puts the nursing home on the defensive and has a strong skeptical, almost rebellious nature. I'm in tough situation with this one. I see their side of it, but again, she's great with mom.

It looks like my mother's therapies will be coming to a close. I'm so torn. The nursing home environment, mainly the night staff, is not good for my mom. (See can't speak & is paralyzed.) I don't see a lot of return of function, but then again, it's only been a little over a month. I'm just so tired of the bad nursing care at night making it impossible for my mom to function well during the day and messing up her phys and occup therapies. I know bringing her home is the best thing for her psychological, emotional, and spiritual well-being. But is it the best for her physical development????

We are preparing my mother and father's home for my mother's return, possibly in 2+ weeks. Fortunately for me, one of my closest friends runs a caregiver agency. What a blessing!!! She's going to help me hire 2 caregivers to take care of my mother around the clock to the tune of $7,000+ a month. We have limited resources, and I don't know how long we can sustain the expense, but I know that we've got to try and make it work as long as we can.

On a lighter note, last night I tried to cuddle in bed with my husband, and my idea of pillow talk was discussing what's going on with the patients at the nursing home. My husband listened attentively for a while, but he finally declared, "Is this supposed to be a turn on talking about old people and nursing homes?"
