New Things Keep Happening!!!
Well the appointment is set. In 2 weeks Chris will go to see the rehab doctor at the Stroke and Brain Injury Rehab at Doylestown Hospital. I have been doing some research and talking to alot of people. This rehab has a great reputation and has had some miracles happen when all hope was given up. Chris is really excited to go and really wants to go inpatient.
We had a really great weekend. Saturday our daughter had a yard sale and we all sat outside and helped her. Saturday night we finally went out to dinner with my parents. It's been over a year since Chris and I have gone out together. He had so much fun he talked about it all day Sunday. Today was more of a layed back day. We watched the baseball game together and then Chris watched the Eagles play. He was alittle more anxious today, he was having alot of pain and spasm in his legs. He always seems to get like this especially after he has transferred in and out of the van.
I'm not looking forward to Monday because there are some issues that I have to talk to the aide about. Chris had informed me that there are many times when she causes him to have pain. He had told me that she is entirely too rough when she washes his "private area." I have heard her say to him when she is washing him - "relax and breathe - go with it." What does she think she is scrubbing - a dirty toilet bowl???????????? She is a very defensive person and always thinks she and her ideas are always right. I have been holding back with certain things that I have seen but I can't any longer. She probably will not talk to me after our talk.
Chris continues to get stronger everyday. He is really building upper body strength and I can leave his side now when he is sitting on the side of the bed. He can finally keep himself centered when sitting. Although I don't feel right now I could chance leaving the room - sometimes he still loses his balance and will start to fall to his right side. I'm starting to see some little things starting to happen. Like last Wednesday - he wanted mustard on his hotdog and he actually took his knife - stuck it in the mustard jar and put some on his hotdog.
Now if we could only get him to stop talking as much as he does. He talks non-stop. From the minute he gets up in the morning until he finally falls asleep at night. He talks so much that we have to ask him to be quite while we are watching TV. You can't hear the TV over him. But I would rather have it this way instead of the way it was.
