Sufficiently Christmas Cluttered

The tree is up, fireplace mantel decorated, the Snow Babies are out, the Nativity Scene is reverently displayed, the swag is on the front door, the Christmas linens are donning the table - and oh, the candles are all present in hues of red, green, white. Lest I forget (how could I??) my Longaberger Christmas baskets are adding yet a little more "ambiance". Yes, we are sufficiently Christmas cluttered!

Last week the mere thought of the Christmas holiday seemed too daunting to even ponder. I didn't think there was any chance at all that I'd be doing any baking, cleaning or even finish my decorating. Yesterday I sat down with my Paula Deene Christmas magazine and picked out some breads and cakes I think I'm going to do for gifts. Every year we've been here - when Bill has been able - we've walked to the neighbors on Christmas eve and dropped off homemade goodies. It's a new tradition for me, one I remember from growing up when we did that with the neighbors. I loved it then, but it was lost for over 30 years. It's good to be back to it! I'm looking forward to being able to do it this year again.

This week I'll get the kids gifts wrapped and off. Got each one of them a little something to open, and gift cards for them to enjoy. Even the little boys will have fun shopping for something special I think! I had fun shopping at the Craft Show for my girlfriends. I'll get those off to them, too - in time for them to enjoy the gifts during the holidays.

And so, from the sick bed to the holiday hustle. I'm back and ready to tackle it all!!

I like your description of Christmas clutter....as that is what it gets to be after a while. we all try and decorate as best we know how but some people just can put things together better than others but it's the attempt we make that counts... I must start looking in my cook books for some simple recipies and attempt to find the energy to make some of our favorites.. wish you luck with your endevorors and seasons greetings

Glad you are feeling better... I am hoping to work on some Christmas 'clutter" this week. I have a little start on shopping, we were snowed in for 4 days..

Deenie,

I always think it's the ATTEMPT that counts!! I like to make bar cookies because they are simpler and take less time!! I love the 7 layer bar because it doesn't take alot of effort but tastes so good!! Rice Krispie Treats are good too, and with a little food coloring or M & M's look so festive. And oh, the Trail Mix. Combine a large bag of M & M's, can of peanuts, box of light raisins and mix it all together - then wait for the raves.

Good luck on your holiday baking,

Bonnie,

BRRRR - how well I remember the early snow storms of Northern Michigan. That's one thing I don't miss, although the occasional "snowed in" break is great!

I'm ahead of the game this year, a rare occurance for me. Today the gifts go to the post office to find their way to Michigan and Arizona. Now it's time to get the Christmas letter out and the shopping for those close by. I'll do my baking closer to Christmas I think - less opportunity to munch that way!!

Merry Christmas wishes to you and yours!
