i participated in the four day healing retreat with john of god from brasil recently...he and his staff were at omega in rhinebeck, ny...i walked in front of him on monday which was the day i had my spiritual intervention...i revert to preverbal stages of development when endeavoring to describe what some of these experiences are like...some of them seem uneventful for sure but this wasn't one of those...i'll continue to see him as often as possible in conjunction with the wonderful pt/exercise
hi all...i got myself into a zen state of mind over the summer now that i live 500 feet from the ocean and all the construction on my house is completed...all i wanted to do was gardening and lounge in the sun (what little there was) on my deck with my cat hOOver...several weeks ago i moved into a proactive mode and lucked out finding a trainer/pt guy on craig'slist...he's the jackpot!...i didn't think i'd ever find just the right person to work with in my new location but the gods have been kin
greetings!...omg my move from the big town was a trip and a half...now that the weather is nicer i'm coming out of hibernation...not too much is so different...i'm registered to attend john of god's 4 day healing gathering at omega in ny this september and will most probably go back to brasil to the casa as well...perhaps in july...i've connected with a couple of quality therapists down here for which i'm grateful...my pt holds a doctorate in his field specializing in neural rehab...he knows wha
greetings...i've been busier than i've even realized with my home renovation project on the jersey shore...complete gut rehab of both floors...sheesh what one finds underneath a 100 year old beach house!...i'm grateful that the project is going better than i could have ever imagined...i'm creating my dream house...first and foremost i credit my contractor for this...he's been nothing short of a blessing...and he's my neighbor...lives on the block!
sunday afternoon i head up to rhinebeck, ny
hi all...i've been too busy doing the gut rehab on my house at the jersey shore...the first contractor turned out to be incompetent and much more...had to take a little trip to court to resolve the issues...the good news is that i won the case 100%...he didn't count on little old stroke survivor me taking him on in court...hey we all make miscalculations!...the other good news is that i found the contractor of my dreams right on my own block...a neighbor...the project is shaping up better than i

hi all...on saturday june 14 i leave jfk airport for abadiania, brasil to participate in a spiritual retreat with john of god...if you have not heard of this man you can google him if you are interested...i am beyond excited, beyond my ability to put into words how i feel about this opportunity...i have read about john of god for a couple of years now but never knew how to even begin to put together a trip like this one...i should have realized that literally everything is on the internet these
greetings...i want to post the latest news re the first teaching hospital for traditional chinese medicine in tianjin, china... start up the band...there's been a change!...the hospital administrators have seen ruth lycke and her china connection exactly for what it is...they tired of her incompetent dysfunctional disingenuous meddling in the american patients' treatment plans and bounced her sorry butt out of the hospital...i was always amazed (and repulsed) at lycke's self- serving antics...sh
it's been awhile since i have blogged...more news alerts regarding the most horrendous fraudulent treatments on the planet...i made my arrangements to pursue treatment at the above mentioned hospital in january after reviewing their website: www.tcmtreatment.com and several email exchanges with it's director...'dr' ming...after arriving in this 'hospital' on april 11 it took me one hour to realize that it was a total scam...the website is the best example of photoshop i could ever imagine...it n
kim...really...what else can i say about this??...so much of it stems from the design of our health care system... instead of having the government providing health care, we have profit driven corporations doing it...so people like ruth lycke and steve sidorenko are following this pattern...their motive is profit first and foremost...so what if people spend the last of their savings and are incapable of generating more because they are disabled...these creeps smell money and they'll continue fol
taz i replied to you privately...but what i want to say very publicly is to stay far away from peter sidorenko who previously was associated with scti, inc....he has proven to be one of those people who feel entitled to make huge untransparent profits for himself on the backs of stroke survivors looking for valid therapeutic resources...steve mallory had originally asked him to speak on strokenetwork 2 years ago...i went to kiev thru him...yes i had good things to say about him back then...when
hello from my part of the world...i have more stem cell news...i discovered thru a friend of mine a new treatment in tijuana, mexico where they use a proliferation of your own stem cells as the therapy...we spoke to a stroke survivor's caretaker who had been treated there...it's a very small clinic which was a welcome experience after dealing with too many big new york city hospitals...this program is run by dr gustavo andrade...on the first day he took blood, a verbal history and performed a ph
hello...i've been offline for a bit...post holiday blahs maybe...well to update i'm pleased thusfar with my ness l300 neurostimulator...
it noticeably improves my walking speed which feels great...feeling my affected heel hit the ground before the rest of my foot does is also a sublime feeling...i'm still perfecting the stim pad placements with my therapist to get them exactly where they will lift my foot into clean dorsiflexion not inversion, eversion, etc...i'm going tomorrow to ny pres to o
thanks for your post...yes it's incredibly monotonous and frustrating...what a combo...my therapist at arrc told me that my nonaffected hand can definately assist my affected hand...for example helping place the fingers of my left hand on the refridgerator door...i'm using the saebo alot...my goal is to get some extension back in my fingers so i can go back to arrc for constraint induced movement therapy...this has been the most promising therapy i've done since i stroked in february 2006!...aga
hi everybody and merry christmas/happy holidays!...what a pleasure to see how festive the website looks!...my therapy consisted of 5 hours a day of saebo exercises as well as other mat work...we had 1/2 hour for lunchand 1/2 hour rest...we started at 8am and went until 2pm every weekday...it was gruelling...thank god i had 2 friends with me doing the cimt program in the same room...the therapy there is all based on constraint induced movement therapy pioneered by edward taub, md at the universit
greetings...today was my second visit with the bioness trained pt...she measured my walking with the device operational and then with it non-operational resulting in a faster and more functional speed with it on...the absolute best part of it for me was clearly experiencing my affected heel touching the ground first as i advanced my left leg!!!!...this device is promising for me to possibly regain a more normal gait!!!!...that sought after heel/toe movement...and with time and effort i do hope t
hi everyone...on wednesday i went to ny presbyterian hospital's pt department for an initial evaluation to determine if i am a candidate for this new neuroprosthetic designed to improve gait
(walking). after the usual questions and a brief exam i was fitted with the device and walked with it
functioning. it did lift my foot when i advanced my affected leg instantly providing less drag to my walking and a bit more of the heel/toe movement that i need to approach a more functional gait. i wil
hi all...news from tianjin is coming to me via two spouses of survivors who are astonished and of course repulsed by the unethical treatment their partners are receiving as only the slezoid china connection can deliver...i'll tell ya, there's nothing quite like abusive behavior in another country by a stroke survivor from your own country!...karma police: we do have a 911 in tianjin, china!
i'm all resettled in my apartment here in greenwich village, new york...last saturday i had a little
jon!!!!...great to hear from you!!!!...yup i'm heading home on october 1!!!!...can not wait!!!!
i do have a bone to pick with you...i beg to differ on my 'drastic turnaround' regarding ruth lycke's china connection...i entered the program with a positive frame of mind of course...i was receiving acupuncture in nyc prior to my stroke and pursued it all the more vigorously afterwards...the comprehensive daily tcm care i received in tianjin is not available anywhere in the usa...i'll bet my butto

hi...it's been a while since my last entry...i became so disenchanted with china i couldn't blog any more about it...tiantin puhua hospital offered a well designed rehab program that unfortunately did next to nothing for me thusfar...receiving the stem cells via lumbar puncture was something i wanted however...overall the hospital is run poorly with not enough consideration granted to the western patients...i'll gladly share the details about this with anyone considering going...i still hold gra
hi all...this little facility which is connected to the much larger tiantan hospital next door specializes in a neuro-science approach to illnesses such as parkinson's, altzhiemer's, stroke, spinal cord injuries and brain tumors...the big feature that attracted me was the fact that they offer neural stem cell injections...plus a daily 'cocktail' of iv treatments to complement this...these are mostly anti-oxidants and brain vaso-dilators...also they include one tcm treatment per weekday and a min

hello asha......your post got me thinking...the difficulty i've wrestled with during blogging is how to report all of my experiences in some kind of balanced way...i've found that it's really not possible...i am disappointed with the results...of course...but countering this, many enriching (no pun intended!) experiences did indeed occur there that i will value for the rest of this incarnation...i've met and befriended a handful of people...one of whom has invited me back to china next year for
