According to the national news across all TV channels today the news is all about the war in Iraq ended. It's officially over and the troops are coming home. Being here at Fort Hood Texas I see plane loads daily coming back home to their loved ones and in some cases, their young children whom they have never seen yet.

Tonight is the night for the Christmas party and there are two things I hope happens! First I hope I'm welcomed by all the employees and perhaps dance with a few of them and my wife. Well, many of you may have read comments or a post about me trying to get prepared and dancing shoes in hand for my debut on the dance floor. I feel and think that when you really feel you can do something, you ought to do it the best you can. My wife has her company Christmas party later this month and I plan on getting out on the floor and kick up my heels! In less than two months I will have been recovering for 8 months. I'm so glad I never gave up on getting better. It's been a long journey to say the least but knowing one day I would be better I just kept praying to God! Sure enough right from the beginning I have been blessed. The stroke happened at 11am while I was home alone. It started in my left hand, the first to go, then my elbow got numb. I stood up turned and fell tried standing again and fell again.

I just had to tell all of you my walking unassisted is improving each day. I got the right health care lady working with me. She tells me, "I am not falling on her watch." I didn't realize it's that much of a difference walking with a quad cane and a single point cane. I have a hand loop string on my cane to keep from dropping it. That works great cause I can hold the cane not letting it touch the ground and walk unassisted. But it's there if I need it.

Today is Friday the middle of the month of September. It has been one big month with so many things happening and the weather going from extreme heat to a cool down then heat again! Many of you know I'm here in Killeen Texas at the front gate of Fort Hood Texas. There are many veterans returning from the war zones. Many of them are hurt and disabled. Loss of arms/hands, legs/foot and brain injuries are just a few of the many injures they have suffered doing this Iraq and Afghanistan war. It's not over yet so there will be many other men and women returning home as Wounder Warriors by the time the order is given to end this war.

Well Labor Day as I know it to be was the last day the beaches and public pools were open for the summer. That was always the big ending to summer fun years ago and the day before school started for the fall/winter semesters. My that seem like it was ages ago for me.
