I got my splint for my left thumb and wrist this morning. My therapist suggested one with laces for a nice adjustable fit but my insurance told me only velcro was covered. She continues to teach me new ways to retrain the brain in ways that are new to me since my past experience with therapy has been limited. I went to OT and I will be going back 6 times to begin with. My stroke hand the right side,is cold but numb,no pain,full movement.
The problem is the left hand. I walk with the walker and put weight on it. My thumb joint and tendon that runs down is swollen. So I will be getting hand splints to support them. I was told not to use my left hand and she wrapped it with sport tape temporarily. Sh said it would last 3 to five days but it came off that night. It was too tight anyway.
