• A  blog is a personal journal of your daily life as a stroke survivor or stroke caregiver.  Surprisingly, countless members have called it therapeautic to write down their thoughts and to vent their frustrations.  You can make it private, just for your eyes or public and share your personal thoughts with your friends.  Why not try it, create your blog and start writing and see if it helps you.

    Living on angel time.

    By swilkinson

I went to see the neurosurgeon on Tuesday. I was interviewed by a young Asian associate doctor and sent for a 3D MRI and angiogram, a brand new way of showing  the blood supply within the brain. The results were given to me by the associate and then I saw the specialist. It appears the aneurysm is larger and deeper than previously thought but at my age they are not going to operate as it would mean a full brain surgery. Coiling, one method of dealing with an aneurysm, is not an option. I think I

attraction

can a person be in a committed relationship and still be attracted emotionally and physically to another person? or should i say, HOW can a person have these feelings? i guess it goes without saying that i'm referring to myself. not that i would ever try to ACT on these feelings, but i have them and i'm not doing anything to stop them. it makes me feel guilty because i have never had them before. but not guilty enough to cease contact with the object of my attraction.   does "the object"

Tuesday Night Rant

[size=7 It is Saturday night and I feel fine,   It is a strange world we live on, it's in a strange dimension, I can't decide if I like it or not, on one hand it can be as scary as hell and other moments they are peaceful and nice, but they are rare. This dimension is more normally not peaceful, it is within the realm of animals and therefore far, far from perfect. I mean how far can a zoo go?   All life in the universe is energy based, to prove that, take away all energy and all life

Dead Roses

I just realized - I have dead roses all over my house.   White roses that the Farleys sent me after Dave died, are in a grapevine wreath.   Pink roses that Jerry gave me for Mother's Day two years ago, sit in an old vase.   Red roses that my sister in law picked from her garden are on a frame, that's also covered in lavendar and moss.   Peach rose buds are attached to the candles, in the living room.   Yellow roses sit on angel in my family room.   There are rose's all over my

Much Ado About Nothing

Life for me is very uneventful nowadays so to come up with something every day to blog about is quite difficult. What can I say, I live a very boring life. Deep sigh! I guess no news is good news so I won't complain anymore. OK?

Rambling Entry

Anyone reading my previous blog entry knows that I've had a long day. Currently I'm mentally and physically exhausted, but too tired to sleep. So I'm going to just start writing for my therapy. You're welcome of course to come along for the ride.   In Native American legend there is the legend of the eagle. Eagles when reaching the end of their lives would fly up to the sun. When they got to close their feathers would burst into flames. An eagle would then dive into a river to douse th

Monday Night Blog

It's Thursday night, I survived again, that's almost a miracle considering that just doing the rudiments of physical labor is enough to remind us that being a species of animal ain't forever, if it were, I'd be kind of sick right about now. Imagine being a human forever, man that would be sick, really sick, puke, puke, puke. There cannot be limitations in a place where there are none, the universe is never ending and all expansive, how could life be limited? It can't.   Whatever we can i

Humans are a funny lot.

When the Humans species first came into being on this planet, it was in the mid latitudes, it was where it was the warmest, it had to be, life does not come from ice. As atoms heat they become more active just as when they are frozen they become more inactive.   Early humans tend to be dark skinned and hairy, it was best for survivaL, if in those early times a white skinned person were born, either Mother Nature or the Parents would have ended its life knowing that it would only suffer more

Being a parent[ big sigh]

It just turned noon time in our house today on a Monday and the phone has been ringing off the hook all morning with calls from school. My son is now full blown into those teen years. He speaks his mind, but has yet to stop at the line where he should just shut up and show some self control. He also has ADHD which adds to his disorder, but still no excuse or justification to be disrespectful to a teacher. With each phone call, the evidence against him is mounting. I have wiggled into my mom t

Time in the physical Universe

Firstly, I thank everyone for the Blog, this is nice.   I am a person who is into science and I like using the scientific method to find an answer. This post is about time, about the human's concept of time.   Before trying to find an answer to a question, it is often a good idea to find the root, the very core of a problem. We are humans, we are a species of animal as evidenced by our canine teeth for ripping flesh from bone, we have remnants of a tailbone and a small reptilian brain in

Silly me (grin)

Just a PS   Guess what! I was very silly as I had posted enteries into my blog and did not publish them. (dunce hat and sitting in the corner for sure).   Anyway I will be the first to admit that I am still learning so I am very sorry that the enteries were not published when I posted them.   So now that I found out that they had just been sitting there gathering dust I did post them so you can read them.   I don't know if they will be in the right order or not and you know what? Tough days

Today was another one of THOSE days. It was beautiful outside but I did not feel like getting out. These allergies and sinus have got me by the throat, literally, and won't let go. Maybe if I wasn't so fat - I would not be so easy to get down with this gunk. Hans hasn't felt really good either. We had a really late breakfast and then Phyllis and Wes brought us plates from a benefit that we would liked to have gone to. That was lunch and supper all in one. We had desert and juice later on

Mr. Righty

My husband did the funniest thing. He has a great sense of humor that was lost the first year and a half after his stroke. And has increasingly been coming back.   I'm always nagging him about using his right hand because he forgets. Uh, what about the right hand? Will you use the right one please? Mr. Righty is just hanging there. Giving him "a look" when the glass he is holding is about to spill because he forgets he's holding it. Now the therapist is the one who started with the "Mr. Right

A blast from the past

WOW! It's amazing what you find when you start packing to move. I have a bad habit of being a pack rat, and I've decided to start a throwing away party this move.   I found an old journal I kept when I was 15-17 years of age. Most of it is "what the heck was I thinking?". This one caught my eye though. It's a song that I wrote the lyrics for and a friend of mine put to guitar. I wish I could remember his name now, but it escapes me.   I am Me (You are You)   Lyrics by: Michael T.

Mindfulness Map

Mindfulness. I of course have just read Jean's blog on building your own violin. Oddly enough, this topic is one I have explored in different ways recently. Another way of understanding mindfulness, is to be aware of what you are doing, how you react, what you say. As a survivor, be aware where you are placing the affected foot. I am reading a book right now that explores this, "Zen and the art of Motorcycle maintenance".I'm really enjoying this book, I find it hard the level of concentration I
