    Living on angel time.

    By swilkinson

I went to see the neurosurgeon on Tuesday. I was interviewed by a young Asian associate doctor and sent for a 3D MRI and angiogram, a brand new way of showing  the blood supply within the brain. The results were given to me by the associate and then I saw the specialist. It appears the aneurysm is larger and deeper than previously thought but at my age they are not going to operate as it would mean a full brain surgery. Coiling, one method of dealing with an aneurysm, is not an option. I think I

Where do I go from here?

I am actually doing pretty good today. I went to a friends house and played with his router trying to get it to work. No luck. He buys junk. Not my problem! But now I am left with the question, where do I go from here? Now that mom is gone, I feel lost. I have too much time on my hands. So much that I don't know where to start on anything. I don't know how to finish anything I start. I had a great day today. The house is so depressing. I can't get dad to get off the floor and even go

UNCENSORED FEELINGS OF ME

These blog entries are MY thoughts, my observations, my feelings , my view of the world, my stories. First of all realize this blog is not an exstention of my opinions on the board, or in chat. These are my uncensored feelings, you don't like how I feel or what I blog about, then don't read it. No one is twisting your arm to read it.( Mo, this is not referring to you!) I will not change my feelings or thoughts because one person gets twitchy about how I feel about things. I am not a sheep that I

Totally alone

Well the doctors found a heart block now and I need a heart cath to find out how much it's blocked and what needs to be done. I asked the only person available to take me for the cath and she refused. So, tomorrow I will call the cardiologist and cancel it. I can hardly drive myself home from the hospital after that kind of invasive procedure. Or, if I have to have open heart surgery, what then? Take the bus? Yah, ok.   My doctor told me she doesn't think I'll ever return to work. After thi

Ramblings

The 5th anniversary of mom's death was March 8. Is that why I'm so sad? A big part of it, I'm sure. And then there's this medical stuff. NOBODY understands. I don't understand either. How long have I been having TIA's? Were they all before my stroke? Something's not right in my head. I can feel it. I wait for the BIG bomb to explode.   I'm worried sick about going back to work. I KNOW I won't be able to handle it....the stress, the people I work with, the noise, the constant chatter in the

Another learning curve.

The beginning of this week was very miserable for me, even knowing I had come a long way from early post stroke, I was not coping with what seemed increased confusion and just not knowing what to do about it. All I had to do was to ask for help from StrokeNet.   Write down list of things to do on a daily basis, include plans and your own needs, like walking the dog, gym, check email and internet sites. Note any confusion and back off until it clears.   I have checked out 2 daily Zen medi

I was stunned today!

My son stunned me today, after Hubby and I got home from church and lunch with his family. Son said he had been thinking about how he's missed the boat...should go to school and/or at least look for a better job than working in a bakery. He also mentioned he's been wasting his life partying. Hubby told him he's not unlike most guys his age...most are barely figuring out life.   Praise God, I think he's gonna grow up afterall!

Even Chefs make Mistakes

Hi All:     I just wanted to 'share' an incident that happened to me over Thanksgiving 2004. My wife and I were invited out for Thanksgiving by good missionary friends that live in upstate New York. (YES Pam, the LAST exit in New York, BEFORE you cross the bridge into Canada.)   Well anyways, I said I would make Pumpkin Bread Pudding and Phyllis said I could make it up there. I went to the fridge, and I saw three dozen of eggs, in cartons. And, I did notice two 'loose' eggs in the d

Locksmithing adventures

For Kimberly who kept asking to repeat the same story over and over in chat, and anyone else who's interested in some things locksmiths have to put up with, here are some of my locksmithing stories.   1) A woman had bought a suitcase padlock and had inserted it into the holes of her pierced genitals, and then lost the key. She came to me wanting me to unlock it. Thankfully it was a common brand that I had extra keys for, so I just sold her a key for it.   2) I was called to unlock a hou

Pursuit of Intellectual education

Today is one of those days, I don't feel like interacting with anybody, not in person, phone or virtual. I just feel like I'm short on words today. But I just had an impression strike me and I thought this is a good blog, if I can have enough words and patience in me to blog it. There are 2 people in my life who are highly intellectual. One I knew pre stroke and never understood him or where he was coming from, the other is also a male that came into my life post stroke and pre stroke I neve

20 yr old son....what can you do?

yesterday, my son was riding with a friend of his in friend's car when it was raining....evidently friend was driving too fast and didn't realize road had layer of oil on it. They rear-ended the guy infront of them...totaling the friend's car(1993) and barely a dent on bumper of car ahead(pre-fiberglass body car...metal frame and bumper). My son in passenger seat slammed his left knee into the dash..... He went to emergency late last night.... they told him his upper tibia was fractured , pu

No one will believe it.

I have a neighbor - he's a retired marine.   He's nuts.   He's not the kind of "shoot your neighbors -kill the democrats" nuts, but, he's close. You've read my story about the Christmas lights. He still has his lights up.   He also has red, white and blue flamingo's in his yard. Next to the life size sculpture of an eagle - well lighted of course -with it's wings extended. In front of his 8 foot flag pole. Flying the American flag -of course.   Well, he didn't have to go to wor

JURY DUTY

okay for all of you jokesters who make fun of me 'cause i believe in bad luck, bad karma, superstitions, and jinxes. i have a PRIME illustration that further backs up my belief system.   i have been a registered voter since NINETEEN EIGHTY ONE and have NEVER been summoned for jury duty. i do not like the jury system. i think that if the jury is TRULY a jury of the defendant's peers, then they should all be of the same race, sex, religion, socio economic background, etc.. OR better yet, le

thoughts while coloring Eggs

Last night Easter eggs got colored at our house. It is a mindless enjoyable task. A chance for thoughts to drift in and out. Now I was in rehab for that easter the year of my stroke. It was important to me that I still color eggs with my kids, important that nothing changed in our traditions. So OT let me color eggs with the kids, I hid them in my room on Easter for the the kids to find. Actually I hid them twice because my friend Mike came wheeling into my room, took one look around and sarcast

What are my options now?

Went to periodontist who agreed with dentist that root canal wasn't an option...not enough tooth left to attach a crown to. #2 bridge which entails grinding down teeth on either side of broken tooth to make them crowns and putting a fake tooth as a bridge between the two new crowns Door#3 Dental Implant which consists of placing a dental screw into what remains of the dead tooth and wait a couple months for bone to grow around that screw. and then build a fake 'tooth' on the head of that s

Another Joke

A cop was patrolling at night in a well-known spot. He sees a couple in a car, with the interior light brightly glowing. The cop carefully approaches the car to get a closer look. Then he sees a young man behind the wheel, reading a computer magazine. He immediately notices a young woman in the rear seat, knitting. Puzzled by this surprising situation, the cop walks to the car and gently raps on the driver

Egg wrap

I've decided I'm going to beat ChefDenny in posting a recipe.   Make sure nobody watches you make this, or they may not want to eat it. Also, I don't use measuring devices in my self-made recipies, so figure out the best you can on the measurements. Also, I generally make 3-4 servings at a time, so measurements given is for that size portion.   Ingredients: Tortilla shells 2.5 eggs per serving, rounded up shredded cheese, your choice of kind lemon juice ranch dressing Basil
