We here have all said at one time or another that recovering from a stroke is slow, very slow at best in my own opinion! Here lately with me I seem to have slowed down in my recovery but I think and feel there are other elements in the way of my recovery.
The first two are my age and my arthritis! I turned the corner in age in July, I made it to 72 years old! I have had arthritis what seem like all my life and it runs deep in my family history. I mean my mother, father, and all the children
I'm getting better in a sense and back to a decent stage of health after this knee operation to tie the tendons back together with the muscles that controls my leg movements up and down!! The doctor was pleased somewhat but I couldn't straighten my leg completely straight out for him... I told him I had been driving my car operating the brake and gas pedals real good so he just said OK...

I hope they hurry and show up so I can start learning how to walk again but so far no one has shown up. I still got the lady from another service to help me with dressing so I need now the walking therapy!!
Hello gang, I'm back home for a day or three of needed rest, man this trip tired me plum out physically trying to ride those buses that picks you up from the Airport to take you to your hotel!!! I tell you now the steps to get in are to tall if you got one side of your body paralyzed like I do!!! My good knee gave out and I couldn't support my other leg to help me climb up to get in the bus...

I have been getting injections in both knees for several years but the last time I did it didn't last very long at all!! So this time I will discuss with him about any other measures to stop the pains short of getting knee replacements for both knees!!

Well, just taking one day at a time and enjoying the weather. All my doctor visits turned out fine and my health is good. No more test of any kind scheduled any time soon so I'm guessing I got a clean bill of health. My therapy was cut short although the VA was paying the bill I guess they figured I had gotten my fair share of it. So now I'm sorta taking life easy and see how far I can go being strong and making any appointments they may give me in the next few months.

Well I'm still under doctors care and many more test to go with my last one being due on 25 February. They did the bacteria test yesterday. I have less now than I did weeks ago. I'm slowly getting back to reasonable health but we still can't tell where in my body the blood is coming from.
So his is an interim report for now and I feel good but weak in my knees. Still have to watch where I sit down high enough seat so I can stand up. Things went well on our short get-away trip and I got lucky
I passed all my test however the doctor is still looking to see where in my body the bleeding may be coming from. He wanted to think it was in the urine but not so sure. Anyway I went in for one procedure and ended up having three each. I'm a lot healthier at this age than was once thought! Staying healthy is a year round joy and a true job especially when a report is out that people in general spends so much money each year on vitamins we don't need.

I got a letter talking about Medicare Therapy Caps on how much therapy, we as stroke survivors, can get before they cut us off. Therapy has been cut way down from what we were once allowed to receive just a couple years ago. I sure hope Congress can do something about these caps placed on us for the amount of therapy we can get each year.

How do I do it?? I suppose I'll never know what I got myself into this time around with my Therapies and being removed from in home health care from the VA! It could be much worse and I felt like I was in a downhill mode.
Yesterday I spent four hours at the VA 25 miles away from where I live and my wife had to be there with me they instructed. That cost her a half day of annual leave and I had to reschedule my therapies from mornings to late evening.

Well the time has come along where my old knees are hurting so much it is very hard for me to stand up from a regular low chair, the church pews, my computer chair, and chairs in the doctor's office as I wait to see the doctor!

She got back today tired as can be from driving that 8 hours from New Orleans to Killeen Texas and all the wedding hoopla for a couple days. Thursday I go in to see the heart doctor that ordered the heart monitor and see what he has found out about my heart condition! The thing that concerned me most was the slow beat they are ranting about!! Maybe it doesn't have to work so hard since half my brain is not working to good and many of those cells are dead or just sitting there in limbo not needing any fresh blood pumped up to them!!
I got 4 days of test before he tells me the news!!!
My hope is I won't have to be hospitalized
I'm nearing nine years after my stroke and I have that many years in discovering how strokes are in each person's life and the number of other people it affects! When you think you are the only one with a problem all you need to do is read some of the members blogs!!
