Ultrasound results

Just got a call from my OBGYN office...said my ultrasound didn't indicate any malignancy, but I'm to have another mamogram of my right breast in 6 months. JOY! And I so love having my breast squeezed flat.

Tomorrow, I go to have an ultrasound of my right breast...cause they thought they found something in the mamogram. Joy!

I'd forget my head if it weren't attached

Seems I can't remember anything that I need to do for today. I have to have a list made out the day before. I forgot to call to make an appointment for the ultrasound of my right breast.   Truly, I would forget my head if it weren't attached.   Blessed short term memory loss! Someone needs to knock some sense into me. Or maybe I need a lobotomy.

Now I need an UltraSound of my right breast

The lab tech squished and squeezed till I thought I'd pop, kept showing the xray doc who kept asking for a different angle. Finally, I was told to schedule an ultrasound. Guess it seems there's something of interest in my right breast. FYI, Marty, the machine squishes to about 1 1/2 inch deep. I can hardly wait for the ultrasound, at least it's not another squeezing, I hope.

Sororities and Rush

Today, hubby, son and I and son's girlfriend went to Iowa City to help a photog friend shoot his Rush Bid Day... basically chaos of college girls All Singing and giggles and estrogen and hugging.   This is the day when the girls who have been 'Rushing' to get into a sorority are told which sorority they were accepted into. We help shoot the group pictures and it's a big $ day for Ed, our friend. We have the sororities for local university and help Ed and he helps us shoot ours.   Yest

Three things I hate with a vengence

There are three things I hate and only submit to doing them reluctantly/obediently... 1)going to the dentist   2) having a pap smear test done   3) having a mamogram done (which I did today)   If I had my way, I'd get all three things out of the way on the same day so it'd be over with. But then I'd probably just loathe that day and drag my feet to complete that day..   You can't win with me. :silly;

Marrried to the Martre

My husband works a 40 hr/wk job that often requires more hours. Plus he's my caregiver, though I'm pretty much self contained these days. I dress/feed and even drive myself. Our son is living at home as is his girlfriend...see old blog entry about daughter to whom I never gave birth. All he asks is for the house to be picked up when he comes home from work. This chore doesn't fall on my shoulders only...son and girlfriend are obligated, too. The last two days, the dishes weren't done so

When do I get to have fun?

My stroke hit over 4 years ago. Rehab then the slow process of trying to adjusting to medical retirement. Now, I'm my son's taxi service and chief erand runner for hubby. I'm wondering, when do I get to have some fun? I thought the 'golden years' were to be enjoyed. When does that happen?

The stroke changed my life in 10 ways

1 Early retirement. forced retirement. I loved my job of being a photographer...especially for weddings.   2 It seems the stroke brought on the early onset of peri-menopause: hot flashes, abnormal menstral cycle, mood swings   3 increased awareness and interest in comedy...I watch Comedy Central non-stop...love MAD TV show.   4 I used to go for a 5 mile walk 3 days a week before the stroke, but now barely have the energy to walk around the house.   5 I'm thankful for opportunity t

Maintenence

Why do we have so much maintenence that needs to be done over and over? Shower every day. Shave legs and armpits once a week. Wash hair daily. Get a pap smear done. Have a mamogram. eat, toilet, sleep.   ad nasium   I wish we had the option to select how often most maintence tasks are to be done. Yeah, I know I already have control over all the above, except, if I had a choice, I'd only need to wash my hair once a week. OK, the alternative to 'all this maintenace' is to

I can't be a hard ass to my kitties

I can't be a hard ass to my kitties and deny them food. They go about crying and sounding so pathetic it just breaks my heart. Guess this explains why I weigh as much as I do... can't deny myself food, either. I'd never make it in the military! No discipline. On one hand I understand the reasoning to lose weight, but with the other breath, I think, why deny pleasure for now when I could be gone in a minute? (eg another stroke, etc) How many people on the Titanic denied themselves desse

Two too fat cats

Went to the vet again yesterday to have the cat's anal glands squeezed again and to purchase flea stuff for the furballs. Seems the fleas 'hitchhike' to inside the house by jumping on our pants and/or socks. Anyway $110 later we came home with two *beep* off cats for the indignity and pills that have to be crammed down their throats for 5 days in a row and junk to put on their backs between the shoulderblades... Since each cat weighs 21+ pounds, vet said to put them on a diet. Previously

Bladder infection

All Sunday I had spasms in my bladder, that later that day I decided were actually symptoms of bladder infection. Called my general doctor who wasn't 'on call' but another doctor in the same office called and I told him I thought I have a bladder infection. He asked me if I am allergic to anything, I said no, he called in a prescription to the pharmacy I use, Hubby had to 'race' over there to pick up the script before they closed at 5pm. Today, Monday, at noon, I still have some pain and hav

No time left for me

Running 'Mom's taxi service left me with no time for what I wanted to do, but today, slept in till 8am. What a luxury!!!! Had to take car for LOF lube oil filter at 8:30am then at 11am went to hairdresser to get the 'grey shoved back in'.(cut and color job...same effect) Then, I had to taxi son's girlfriend to a job interview and to place for her to drop a UA (urine analysis) Then, when got home son wanted to go to his friend's house to play pool. Finally, I have 5 minutes to myself

Early morn taxi service no longer needed :)

My son got off from detasseling and announced that they told them all that the detasseling was done, so YAYHHHH!!!!! I no longer have to get up at 4:30am to take son and his friend to meet the pickup bus by 6am. My head hurts today from lack of sleep. I'm sure he'll find some other thing he wants me to taxi him to/from.

Blessed are the peace makers......

I feel like I've taken on the role of peacemaker between my son and his girlfriend. Every day there is a new flare-up. Often it's the same issues over and over again. He's working detasseling and she doesnt's have a job(she's been looking...just nothing right now till school starts)...When he's off work, she wants his attention. He's bushed and worn out from the heat and working. Guess I need to talk to her again.   I want this feuding over befor my husband gets home so he doesn't have

Panic

Last night I was grinding my teeth as usual when all of a sudden, the fake tooth moved. That scared me and I rushed to look in the miror to see what I'd done. It looked ok but I was afraid I'd accidently swallow the fake tooth. Called my general dentist and he 'worked me in' during his lunch hour. The specialist dentist had previously said I should go to see general dentist as he has better bonding agents to keep the tooth in place. Wheww, I was scared to even take my meds for fear I'd sw

My gums are throbbing where the tooth was pulled

Well, the title says it all...my gums are throbbing where the tooth was pulled. Doctor 'glued' the temp crown to the two side teeth so I don't look like a gal from Deliverance.... I go see the doctor next Monday again for follow up. He's a nice guy...he called me the night of his pulling my tooth to check on how I was doing. And it was at 7:30 at night...well after office hours.

Ding dong, the tooth is gone

Today, the periodontist pulled the old 'dead' tooth and put a bonegraft in. He was very nice and warned me of everything that was to happen. He deadened me up quite a lot( I warned him that I'm a wuss). The deadening is gone now, and I took a Motrin 800mg for the throbbing. As I had infection in the root, he prescribed amoxocillan(mold) and he also gave a script for Hydrocodone...but I don't 'do well' with codene so probably won't take that unless I'm totally desperate. Yes, this is very e

Dental Implant

Tomorrow, Monday, July 18, I begin the steps necessary to have a dental implant done on my #9 tooth, (upper front left tooth). I absolutely hate to have my front teeth messed with. This tooth had so much fillings in it a few years ago that dentist put a crown on it, then recently the crown broke off. oww The dental implant is going to be the remainder of tooth pulled and a "screw" put into the bone and allow the bone to grow around it, then a crown is fixed on the head of the screw. I'
