Doctor Update

Okay, some of you may have read about my cardio app. and how I have been nervous about it.   Well the echocardiogram showed a normal funtioning heart! Mitral valve that I had surgery on looks great! I did mention to him, that I feel "light headed" sometimes during the day. For my sanity and his curiosity, he sent me home wearing a 24 hr. heart monitor. I feel good about it, and feel sure it will show nothing new to us. I wore one right after my stroke and it came back normal. The nurs

Ahh the joys of having neighbors

This is a multi subject blog, hang with me.   I really didn't know what good neighbors I had until I had my stroke. Our next door neighbor, has a small family with 3 children (2 living) We would walk together in our neighborhood pre-stroke. It would give her a much needed break from her son who has autism. Well, I knew we were friends, but I still haven't gotten the hang of making/keeping friends as an adult. When I was in the hospital she was in my regular room when PT's tried to stan

hubby burned his thing with coffee this afternoon!

I know it shouldn't be funny, but it was. My hubby works at night, and around 2:00 p.m. everyday, I make us a pot of coffee, so it will be ready when he wakes up, and still fresh. This afternoon, he was really into Dr. Phil's show on Polyigomy (sp)? He tried to go to the bathroom, and refill his coffee in the segment break, to not miss anything; he sat down fast on the couch with his coffee full to the brim, the next thing I know, he is screaming like a lady being mugged, and running out of

Anxiety's already started

Okay, Thursday I have a cardio appt. I make myself sick over them. Nervous and anxious, dreams, night mares. The latest dream was that I was going to have to have my chest cracked open like a lobster again. My last Cardio appt. went well, I have 0 shortness of breath. But I am always scared that they are going to find something not working right, and I will have to undergo surgery again. My stroke was supposively caused from a clot developed on my mitral valve, but I think that str

we wen to see new Star Wars movie

We had a family outing today to go and see the hyped Star Wars flick. I actually enjoyed it and it made the others make more sense to me. It was more violent. I did loose concentration during some of the fighting scenes, and I started day dreaming. Anikin has a ripped chest in this episode, some eye candy for the ladies! Amy

A surprize I found in the bathroom!

Okay, I know you are all thinking I am talking about bathroom humor, but it is nothing like that, nothing about body waste. My daughter and I have this little thing we do for each other, like last night, I went into the bathroom, and some little 4 yr, old girl had already put toothpaste on my toothbrush! It is just the most heart melting surprise to stumble on. And of course when I found it she was already sleeping like an angel in the bed. I woke her up to say thank you, cause Lord knows I

Silly Yard Sale over

Yeah! I survived 2 whole mornings sitting in my garage for people to come and look at all our junk. My hubby tried to talk me out of having it, b/c he was scared it held hidden work for him. I was able to use thought organization and have things lined up for it to run smooth, never had to ask hubby for anything but to climb into the attic to get down baby bed and other baby stuff . It was hard getting rid of her baby bed, although she never slept in it, (I felt like I was putting her in

OT session was hard, but well worth it!

You guys, I had 0 hand/arm movement until me OT/angel worked with my in out patient. Today we practiced fine motor movement my fav., but most hardest, I put all of the connect 4 checkers into the game all by myself! Now, she really preps my fingers for a session like this with joint compressions and I was wearing a thumb splint, a brace you buy at Wal-Mart in the Pharmacy department. I still have too much tone in my pointer finger and thumb, on the left, but the activity gives me hope for my o

My garage looks like Sanford and Son

Tom. my big awaited yard sale starts, Our garage is so embarrassingly full of junk that other people want to see if they want. I cannot ever get rid of any disability brace, or aide for fear of needing it again. I am throwing my shoe horn in the sale b/c I have never used the stupid thing since I got it. I owe a lot of thanks to my inlaws who purged their house of unwanted things to donate to the sale. Now we have a bigger assortment of items to sale: leather recliner that has something wrong

Company gone/Audio annoy

My company is gone, and I feel I did okay now as a hostess. I got up this morning to prepare them breakfast, before there journey home. I needed to clean the house that good anyway. I am glad it is done and over. After my OT session this afternoon, I think I may sip on some Merlot and watch some uniteruppted T.v. Audio things bother me post stroke, before as a teacher, I was used to hearing lots of different sounds smear together. But the t.v. and kids crying, drive me crazy! After w

Playing Hostess after stroke

Is it me, or is it hard for others to play hostess after stroke? It takes me foever to clean/get the house ready, and to make sure that I do not forget any detail. And not to mention preparing a meal for it. -Amy sleepy blog more later

Shooting Range

My hubby got a new pistol the other day , and living in the city we had to go out to the Game and fishing Wildlife Shooting range to shoot it. I shot it once. It didn't kick back like his g-ma's revolver did when I shot that. I am scared of guns, looking at it makes me develop a cold sweat. And of course, we take all safety precautions with a child in the house. He would like to get his concealed weapons license. My old co-worker had his. I don't understand that testosterone stuff, only

Tornado weather today

Yes, I live in the part of the u.s. where Tornado's are a seasonal part of life. We are having very unstable weather today. I think it is fun and exciting. Now I don't think it is fun when you are taking shelter for hours at a time until the tornado sirens go off. But watching the unstable weather is like watching a movie to see how it will all turn out. Or maybe this is a sign that I have been staying home too much, the longer I go without a job, and stay home, the more weird, and retired

I love going to the dentist

I know that sound weird, but I love going to the dentist, not the bill, but it is relaxing to lay there and have someone take care of you for a short period. I compare it to a spa-like feeling. I know a lot would disagree, but I go nitrous oxide free, I need to keep all my brain cells that I have left a live and running. Shots don't even bother me, especially in the left side of my gums. I weird, I know Amy

simple day

Nothing really happened exciting today. Drank iced tea on the back patio watching the kids play. Read my online newspaper. Tomorrow should be fun, Not really. I have a dentist appointment. Only 1 small cavity to fill and she has to fix some work my old dentist did. When I got out of rehab, and went to the dentist my teeth were shot! I think I had 7+ cavities. He said that stress on your body shows in your teeth? I don't know. B/c of my heart I have to pre-med before any dental work with

Am I that obvious that I am disabled?

Okay, I know I have had a stroke, and don't actively use my left hand as much as the right, and my walking is different, but I wonder what I look to the outside world? When we go out in public, I love having my daughter along with me, b/c I tell her to hold Mommy's sick arm/hand that way it doesn't flop when I walk plus, my vet asked me if my dog was only a companion dog. I took that as an insult, b/c he thought it was a special needs dog! Don't Special needs dog usually wear a vest sayi

vet diagnosis

being an obsessive person, I had to make an appointment for my baby to see the vet, and when my hubby is concerned about Shelby's health, that makes me think that I am not over reacting as much as I think I am. Our dog Shelby has chronic allergies, which she takes daily Rx meds for, she has a cough, had a breathing attack the other night, which almost caused stroke #2, and she is just not acting like Shelby. The vet diagnosed fluid on her chest, that could be caused from 1. Allergies, or 2. Hea

Dog seems fine

This morning my dog seems fine except for an occassional yelp here and there, she can walk no limp. She yelped when she woke up,when she did her wet dog shake. I am just going to watch her close today and see if she acts normal. If she doesn't, off we go to the 24 hr. vet office. -Amy

Doggie accident

I accidently hurt my dogs paw tonight. I was bent down pouring food into her bowl, and she came up behind me, and I turned around and stepped on her paw. I didn't even feel her paw when I stepped on it. I feel horrible. My husband thought we should take her to the 24hr. vet hospital. WE decided on ibuprophen and wait until morning to see how she is acting. She will let me touch her paw,but whines real soft to let me know that it does hurt. She was sitting up in her Kennel holding her paw u

I'm sorry Mrs. Sullivan..

I used to teach school in the inner city of Little Rock, a neighborhood infested with gangs, drugs, and violence. I can remember teaching and being very pregnant, concerned about what Madeline may think the outside world was like. I hated to raise my voice being pregnant,in fear it would frighten her and cause her to develop anxiety. I had this one little boy,who would walk into the room each morning and hug my belly and say good morning Madeline. The same little boy who teachers sighed over t

Star wars night

Ah, there is nothing like having a good old star wars night, to get ready for the new movie coming out in May. My hubby is not a big fan like some who are nerdy, and the force is with them, but he has been talking about watching it, with our daughter all week. He had her all excited about the movie, and she lasted almost an hour, then wanted to start talking. I had lunch today with a fake friend of mine, which I need to start a separate blog about fake friendships/fair weather friends. I ask my

bump on the head

I hate it when my daughter gets hurt, she freaks out over small things, and I never know if she is quawling and bawling over a scratch or gash. Tonight was a good reason to cry. She was sitting in the floor playing, very calmly. She shook her head as if to get the hair out of her eyes and hits her head on the corner of the coffee table. I see it happen, and I know that it was a good knock on the back of her skull. I don't react, just wait to see if she is going to cry or shake it off. Well,be
